NVR Offline
NVR Offline
Was on vacation for couple weeks, got home and did a check on nvr system. had events from 11/01/2019 to today, but on the 17,18,19 nvr was offline.? what happened. This unit is not connected to internet and all cameras are hardwired, when I got home today it detected my motion and recorded. So lost on why off line on the 17,18,19. Log just says alarm offline for those days. Thanks for any suggestions on fixing this.
Re: NVR Offline
There are a few reasons that might happen. I am not sure if you have your place by others but I had that Issue once some years ago when I was away. Had someone post something that was dated. So I went to look at that day to see who put it on my door and found 2 days was missing. So went to ask Neighbors about these 2 days come to find there was a storm knocked out power lines and because of where we were located having that power restored is slower then Main town. After that I got a Natural gas Generator and a Auto Transfer switch and no more problems. Less then 40 seconds to switch over so my Battery Backup that I have is little over kill but never can be to safe... Another issue that could have been when it went to Auto reboot if set up to do so had an error and was unable to restart the system.
If your system has the Smart Option on the HDD I would look to see if there is any HDD errors. 1 or 2 is no big problem they will be reported but Hdd will or should say in good. If the Errors get to be 25 to 30 it is time to look for a new HDD as that one won't have much time left to live... While I know the Database don't load off the HDD it can be a issue on start up if going bad...

Re: NVR Offline
Thanks Revo2Maxx
I did a check with friends and no power outage that week. I check the hd for error and none, very odd it was off line for 3 days then came back on by itself? Well I did set it up to reboot once a week at a certain time, will watch for the next month and see what happens.
Thanks Again

Re: NVR Offline
It has happened again, no recording on 1/5/2020 and 1/6/2020. When I go to the search section the calendar is greyed out. How do I track this problem down ? This is at a remote garage that needs monitored all the time.
Re: NVR Offline
Maybe check the Recording if it is set to Overwrite or Stop only thing I can think of is that your out of space and after a set time your System is setup to delete so much space.. you can find this in the Auto Maintain area of Setup where your Weekly Reboot is. Sorry I am not sure this is only guess of what I would think it is...
Need to check your setup and make sure it is set to Over Write and or Send you an email when your Space gets low...
Like mine here...
Alarm Event: Low Disk Space
Alarm Input Channel: 1
Alarm Start Time(D/M/Y H:M:S): 10/01/2020 01:25:07
Alarm Device Name: AMC0009CXXXXXXX
Alarm Name:
IP Address: 10.0.0.218

Re: NVR Offline
Thanks for the input, it has a 2tb drive installed and it has 1.5tb free. I will go over the setting tomorrow to see if anything stands out. It is not on any network,so alarms are not possible. Its just 2 cameras hooked to the nvr, they are both hardwired. Does not make any sense why they go off line for couple days then come back on . Sure it is a setting but it can happen anytime.
Re: NVR Offline
No I don't think that is a setting.. That is something odd... If your Recording to a NVR that has 2tb and there hasn't been any Deleted Footage to clear up the empty space then there is something going on other then that because there isn't any setting that I could think of other then you having your Schedule setup not to record on days that are missing...
So in the Recording Schedule there are days of the week from 0 to 24 and only way I think something like that could happen is if there was a Power Outage or if you had it set to not record say it was Monday and Tueday or some other 2 random days in the Schedule.. Only thing with that is they would always be missing them days...
2 Cameras on a 2tb I would have your system set to record until full and overwrite. Then I would have your system setup to not Delete any footage and then keep an eye on the system every other week and see if there is a pattern if there is then next thing I would do is set up a Wifi Hidden camera and find out who is Turning off your NVR for the days missing or what is going on anyway,.. I would have this facing the NVR, Hidden and not telling anyone that might have access to the system. Until then I would also look back at the times of who was last in the area, shop or what not and see what was last recorded.
Also maybe just maybe is there a Switch that is going to the outlet the NVR is connected to? Could it be that someone when leaving turns off the wrong switch?
Then that gives me an idea that I would need to Hidden cameras. If no switch a Camera on your Breaker Box and another one on your NVR. These could be hooked up to NVR but only if you did it on back channels like Say you have your system setup for 4 windows and your NVR is 8 ch put the other 2 hidden Wifi cameras on 7 and 8 because they would have to look for others on the system... However I would also have the Cameras recording to their own MSD for backup...
Many years ago on a Business I had I had someone stealing from me and the VCR tape would come up missing... so to fix this I installed a Longer Time Lapse VCR in the Ceiling and was able to find out who it was stealing.. Now with all the new Covert cameras and NVR or DVR this task would be much easier. Also cheaper lol Time Lapse VCR's ranged 1200 to 1800 each. I am sure there was cheaper but not for my security lol...

Re: NVR Offline
Here we go again, went by my garage today and seen tracks in snow. Went inside to check NVR and 2/2/2020 was missing,no events on that day and it is greyed out on event calendar. I need to work everyday to be useful, when it records it doed nice job. Here is my system, as you can see one camera is renewed from Armcret Ebay Store.
Amcrest REP-IP4M-1028EB ProHD Fixed Outdoor 4-MP 2688 x 1520P Vandal Renewed
Amcrest ProHD Outdoor 4-Megapixel PoE Vandal Dome IP Security Camera IP4M-1028E
Amcrest NV2104E-HS 1080p POE NVR (1080p-6MP) 1080p 2.1MP 4K
Brand new WD purple 2TB hard drive
I have no internet at the garage, everything is hardwired and NVR is on a Battery Backup. I started looking at setting on nvr, two cameras one is D1, other D2
When I went into camera setting both have different ip address, but both say Channel1 is this normal. Then I check the log and seen this,
2020-02-02 02:47:22 Change Working HDD to </d
2020-02-024:26:48 Offline Alarm :2>

So nothing was recorded on the 3rd.
Should I try a factory reset?
My phone has a thing called hotspot so I could go on internet with a laptop. If the laptop is connected to the nvr would I be able to do a web log on?
Open for all suggestion , got to have this working everyday of week.

Re: NVR Offline
Factory reset means all has to be setup again... But is a Good Option...
Wonder what type of backup your using is there any Min specs?
Chan1 is normal if someone don't change the number setup on the cameras they all come set to Ch1
THe ch2 log in and out is normal seeing everytime the camera and NVR talk about connection the camera has to log in.
There isn't much that I can look at the little bit of the logs you posted to make an understanding of what is going on... THere is an offline alarm but don't say when it came back online that could have been the normal Reboot or not sure but without having the whole log it is hard to say...
You can do a search for log like I just did one form the 20th of last month on my NVR only gave me as far back at the 26th because today my Wifi camera is being a Pain and keeps going on and off line lol so there are many log in and outs for it...
However there is info like
344
Log Time & Event : 2020-02-02 06:10:32 Working HDD free space percentage:19%.
Log Type : Storage-->HDD No Space
Log User : admin
Detailed Information:
Free Space: 19%
and other things like that that could be helpful in understanding what the issue could be.. Make a Backup of the log to a USB stick then open on your computer at home, zip it and PM me the zip and I can take a look at the logs
