Just going by what all my Amcrest Cameras that are not POE are and I have PDU's that require me to make sure that I install the Jacks in the right way. Most of my older cameras are dual voltage and as such they normally can run either way. However I still always make sure that I have them wired with the way most normal devices are wired so I don't have any problem connecting to other cameras that are just 12v..
The one thing to keep in mind is that looking at the Amcrest manual for your camera there is a warning that you should not have POE and 12v in use at the same time. So keep that in mind..
Again my other cameras I have had them connected to both and has to do with the type of Power Board they are running. If you were to do a test with a meter at one of the connectors when plugged in POE there can be voltage at the connector. The issue is that the power there is very low so couldn't power a Mic or other device from it because it has a very low ma current that will pass. So yeah would want to make sure that you remove POE power I wait for a couple of minutes to make sure all voltage that might be stored in any of the CAPS have been drained before plugging in a different voltage type..

Re: IP5M-B1186EW connection log out
Oh sorry, Also now that I think about it. If you look at the Power supply that comes with the Amcrest cameras. They will have the Diagram of how you should connect it. Some POE cameras come with a PSU even though they are POE if yours did it would have a Picture like the one taking from one of mine that is POE but came with a Power Supply..

Re: IP5M-B1186EW connection log out
Hmm, if the POE and adapter power rails are not isolated, then I can hook a cam up via POE and then probe at the plug to find which is + and -. That would verify what the adapter you pictured shows. None of the QC nor Amcrest cams came with adapters as they were POE.
EDIT: It's too late tonight to pull a cam, but using my dead QC cams I verified on those sleeve is GND. They were showing only about 8.25 vDC, so perhaps some component(s) have failed and are drawing down voltage (unless the 12v requirement is a max and cams can run lower, I defer to your knowledge on that).

Re: IP5M-B1186EW connection log out
That is interesting. Just probed one of my back up cameras that has 12v out (kind of noisy) also only shows 11.11v on output when I used for mic. Anyway that camera has a 5v output at the DC jack when connected to my POE nvr port.

Re: IP5M-B1186EW connection log out
Well, now I'm confused. I can kind of see the 12v being only 11.1v. From my arcade video game hobby, 12v circuits have a wide tolerance and can run the circuit (usually audio circuits) just fine down the low 11 volts. But for you to see only 5v on the power jack is odd, unless it's a 5v camera and not a 12v one. But more odd to me is these DC jack and POE rails aren't isolated. If a critter or some conductive debris gets in the 1.x mm space between the tip and sleeve, there goes the camera. Since they provide water-resistant housings for the LAN jack, you'd think they'd provide something to cover the DC jack as a precaution as most of these would be unused given all the POE NVRs. As practice, I tape over the jacks anyway, but I never saw a mention to do so in any manuals.
Re: IP5M-B1186EW connection log out
Yeah. Well I don't know really. I have another POE from Hikvision I just plugged into Port 8 of the NVR and tested that one it was 9v. My guess is that the first one I tested has a 5v as the last area. Most of the cameras I own have 1+v, 3.3, 5, and 12v. I find it really odd this Hikvision is 9v lol. That isn't a normal V within a Ip camera. However it could be a 12v that is coming through and that is the Voltage drop.
About the other, As I said they are not Valid Voltage anyway. Anything that would require more then the voltage that is there and of a load of more then around 50ma will just make the voltage drop out.
About a Critter issue, Not really going to be an issue because only load will 0 out the rail. Phantom Voltage really.

Re: IP5M-B1186EW connection log out
It's been raining here off and on the past week and I didn't feel like climbing a ladder to take any cams down. However I did find something interesting. About a day after I did the factory reset, I noticed that one of the 4 Amcrest cams stopped having disconnects and did not have ANY for 4 days. So I made the mistake of going into the web UI and copied it's settings to the other three (even though they were already the same, but I figured it couldn't hurt). Within an hour or so, the one that had been fine for days started having the disconnects again. So, it's clearly some interaction between the QSee NVR and the cams, just no idea what. But oddly, for the past 12 hours today, none of the 4 have had any disconnects, and that's not happened before. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
Re: IP5M-B1186EW connection log out
So something odd and kind of related but not..
So on my Amcrest NVR that is using older FW (Not as old as yours) I setup my Amcrest AD410 and Lorex 2K Doorbell into the NVR. One there was talks about how to remove the Watermark from the AD410 since it came out. Oddly using my New FW NVR's, they didn't have this effect. However the Older Firmware one if I bring up the screen to change things like the name or time (Overlay) and or add my Name to the cameras like I normally do. It takes out the Amcrest and or Lorex name and only way to get them to come back is to do a Factory Reset. On the AD410 I am sure the CGI could get it to come back by a Command as I think there is one to add and remove. However the lorex while it looks like the AD410 it don't offer CGI so only way is Reset.
So this brings me back to this. I remember my older Dahua NVR. that does have GUI like yours that is very damaging to my Doorbell cameras just by connecting it. Makes things go crazy and doorbell just goes in constant boot loop lol. Have to do a Factory Reset to fix.

Re: IP5M-B1186EW connection log out
Well, for reasons I'm not quite sure of, the problem seems to have resolved itself. The day after my last post, another of the original QSee cameras died. It had been glitching where it would go offline for a bit and come back, but it finally died completely. I pulled all the cams from the switch and did another factory reset, then hooked them back up one by one and there has been no dropouts for the past few days. I don't know whether the fix was the cam or the additional factory reset. I did notice when troubleshooting this for the past couple weeks, when I would remove a cam from the switch, it would sometimes cause other cams to drop out. I'm more worried that 3 of the original 8 QSee cams have failed, they are just over 4.5 years old.
