Do you need a special setting in the camera setup to get this stream to rtsp in vlc ?longedge wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 2:47 pm If you need/are using the full webui then it won't be timing out but if all you want is to monitor cameras then VLC is an excellent option. This was my screen a few minutes ago, I've got 4 cameras displayed in separate instances of VLC and Firefox is displaying a TV screen in PiP mode bottom right and a second tab showing the forum. CPU useage on my PC runs at around10% like this.

Where does that path come from or defined ?
/cam/realmonitor ?
Re: Disable WebUI Timeout?
I'm using VLC to access the RTSP feeds from the cameras i.e. in VLC Media/open network stream/open media and in network URL enter -
"rtsp://username:password@192.168.1.97:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0"
substituting the appropriate username and password and the IP address is for a camera on my own network.
Obviously this does nothing more than allow you to monitor a camera, no access to controls or camera settings.

Re: Disable WebUI Timeout?
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'rtsp://admin:xxxxxxxx@192.168.1.172:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0'. Check the log for details.
I got a ip2m-863

Re: Disable WebUI Timeout?
Any idea where this 'log' is
Re: Disable WebUI Timeout?
Why can't VLC have use access to the 'log' somewhere/anywhere on the menues within
Re: Disable WebUI Timeout?
I found the log in syslog
Nothing but VLC starts logged there

Re: Disable WebUI Timeout?
A variant of my workaround may work for you. I log into the web interface of my DVR and set up the cameras to view in the "Preview" pane. When the timeout occurs, a popup appears titled "Message from webpage" saying "Connection time is out!" and an "OK" button. I just move this popup to the edge of the screen and mostly out of sight.
The video feeds continue to stream, even though the rest of the web page isn't updated!

Re: Disable WebUI Timeout?
I found a solution to this problem and posted it to the Forum at the link below. It has worked fine for me for a few months now in Firefox, Chrome and Opera.
Web Browser Login Session Time

Please let me know if it doesn't work for you.
