Blue Iris and NVR NV4116E-A2

Post by Volkemon »

Getting my new NVR NV4116E-A2 integrated with Blue Iris.

Is there a way to individually connect to the cameras that are on the NVR POE ports? Addresses are 10.10.1.x , not 192.168.1.x

I CAN access the NVR via the web address of 192.168.1.250 on my local network.

Can I specify ports for individual cameras on the NVR address?

Hope I am asking this question clearly  TIA!!

Yes in BI you can add your cameras from NVR 1 or all you just have to pick the cameras you want to add when you do a search for your local NVR IP address.. So like on one of mine 10.0.0.225 and that is 16 ch, I use that address and I do a search. Then it will come up and ask what camera number you want to add do that for all you want to add...

YOU ARE THE MAN!!!

(60YO grandpa here... thats a COMPLIMENT in my world. Please take it as such. )

I couldn't figure out WHY linking to the NVR only showed camera 1. :?

I bet a LOT of those little boxes do things.. ;) :ugeek:

SO...

Getting some RTFM time with BI this morning. :D :geek:

I have determined that a combination of BI and NVR will fit my needs.

THANK YOU so much again.

Ok, managed to hit another speedbump.

Absolutely, using the Camera # is giving me a camera feed on BI from the NVR attached camera.

I only had one left running on the POE outlet, and that worked to display it on BI.

All the others I had put over to another switch on my network, and I can access them fine using their web portal.

BUT.... how do I get web access to the camera connected to the NVR POE outlet? I want to set up the AI features on the camera.

Amcrest Surveillance Pro finds the cameras and the NVR on my LAN, but cant 'see' the one camera connected to the NVR POE connection.

Amcrest IP config same issue. But yeah, they are both on my 102.168.x.x LAN, not the 10.10.1.x NVR network.

Accessing the Web browser (WEB SERVICE) on the NVR (192.168.1.250)

MANAGEMENT > CAMERAS > REMOTE DEVICE gets me to the page where I can see the cameras on the NVR. Each one has its IP listed, and there is that 'Internet Explorer' (EDGE?) "E" in blue to link to the webpage of the camera. Click on that icon, and it opens up the Webpage for that camera.

IF its on the local 192.168.1.x network. What about the one on the NVR POE?

The Camera plugged into the NVR has a 10.10.1.x IP addy. Still has a big bright "E" to go to the webpage. Click on it, and Edge tells you after a time that '10.10.1.x' did not respond.

'kay. Using the NVR interface, and using the link it provides to get to the camera's web interface..... FAIL.

WHAT am I doing wrong???? Or is this a ""FEATURE"" of the NVR?

Debating taking my laptop, turning off Wifi, and manually connect to the POE outlets on the NVR. LEt DCHP get me on that network, and HOPEfully then Amcrest Surveillance/IP Config will "see" the camera. BUT... not sure what might happen if I plug an older lappy into a POE. Should be OK... :? :? Right???

POE NVR Log into the NVR IP address in Edge on IE mode. If you use edge or Chrome you will need to do it 2 times in the next step..

Next go to camera, then click on the camera you want to work with Again if Edge Normal or Chrome it will give you an error for first 10080 IP for some reason.. So click a camera you don't want to mess with first, then click the one you do, the second time it will open 10081 port and that on up works in edge and chrome.. Could do like you said as well. But keep in mind that in most NVRs they work in banks of 4 so if you plug into port 8 it will only work with 5-7 seeing your on 8.. So if you wanted to work on camera 1 then you would need to plug into 2-4 to access port1..

Found out that unless one is signed into their Microsoft acct, the option to operate Edge in "IE Mode" is not available. Microsoft. And shout out to Amcrest using a depreciated/obsolete interface. Welcome to 2025???

And the rest of it is a swing and a miss cuz. ;) That all works when the NVR, cameras and BI are all on the same network. But BI accesses the NVR via 192.168.1.x and the cameras on the NVR POE ports are on a 10.1.1.x network.

I just took the final camera off the NVR POE for now, and unplugged the NVR. Might put the 10TB HDD in the BI computer. Hopefully I can use the NVR as a POE router with some network entries. But with a BI computer running 24/7, that NVR is a PITA I dont need. I gave it an honest go, its just inadequate junk IMHO.

Sorry but that is incorrect, My NVR was like yours and started in 10.1.1.xx and I have changed that to 10.2.25.xx and my NVR is 10.0.0.225. The camera that I have added is 10.2.25.71 and that camera is connected to POE port of NVR. That connection from NVR to BI is how I have that camera connected to the Bi server for more data seeing that camera is only Motion so I use Bi to alerts for human. and works well. I have Bi not setup for camera alerts only Bi setup alerts. I have others as well. Just like I said also have other camera from other POE NVRs like my Alibi and dahua and Amcrest DVR as well. Just using the Recorders Ip address and then picking the channel I want to pull into Bi.. But it is what it is, don't like the NVR you said so option is what you have done and pulled cameras and put on your local network..

Whoops! I evidently did not say things well.

I had cameras on two networks. One being my LAN (192.168.1.x) and the other the 10.1.1.x contained within the NVR.

The issue is that the computer with the BI on it ( Lets call it the BIBox) is on the 192.168.x.x network. It has no direct contact with the 10.1.1.x network.

The NVR has contact with both networks. Both for cameras, and for the NVR Web GUI on the BIbox. Accessing the NVR through the Web GUI on the BIBox, I use 192.168.1.250 in the BIBox browser to access ALL the NVR cameras feeds, that it gets off both networks. Indeed, you showed me how to specify camera number. THANK YOU again!! And those feeds were sufficient for BI use.

BUT... I needed access to the actual Web interface of the camera itself. I was adjusting variables that were not available via BI or NVR menus.

So I needed to use a browser (Edge, Chrome) , and directly interface with the camera. Easy peasy with the 192.168 cameras. But... the cameras listed with a 10.1.1.x address were the issue.

Sure, I can access the NVR via 192.168.1.250 from the BIBox.

And when I do so, and go to Camera Management, I can see the IP addresses of all the cameras.

And, as I said before, Can click on the "IE" icon and it opens up the Web Access page for that camera... IF it's on the 192.168.1.x network.

The ones on the NVR POE ports are on the 10.1.1.x network contained within the NVR.
Click on the IE icon by them, and it opens up the Web Access page for that camera.... Or tries. Fails to connect.

The NVR is putting the address of 10.1.1.x into the browser bar of the BIBox - that has no access to the 10.1.1.x network by itself.
ONLY Via the NVR .

So I end up with the BIBox not being able to connect to the 10.1.1.x networked cams directly. Because it is on the 192.168.1.x network.

That was where I was stuck. I sincerely hope that is a bit better explanation.

I had no way of accessing the Web GUI of the cameras, plugged into the NVR POE ports, from the NVR menu that was offering them to me.

I would have thought that if the NVR is giving me access, showing me addresses and offering me a direct link ..... that the link would work.

  NOT to say it is an AMCEST issue!!  It VERY well could be me!! Often is!

If anyone can figure it out, I have faith in you. :ugeek: And perhaps we can help another searching soul down the line. ;)

*******************************************************************************************
But it is what it is, don't like the NVR you said
ok, ok... 'inadequate junk' was rather harsh. SORRY AMCREST!!

I was rather frustrated at that time. :x Its not junk. I hope to use it as a NVR/router/POE source for my barn and north gate cams. But as far as a stand alone home security alternative to a computer running BI... inadequate is a fair word. (Power usage aside!)

And IE has been "dead" since '22. I would not expect NVR's sold years later to still rely on it for feature access. Just my 2c, not a judgement.

THANKS AGAIN for all you do, and for going through the frustrations to educate people. You ROCK Sir.
