Re: Raspberry pi and Amcrest 2K remote cam setup
The Second message was Removed and we will keep the post here where this started.. Just so you both know there is now only 1 instance of the question about outside network connection

Re: Raspberry pi and Amcrest 2K remote cam setup
So to access the web ui do I enter the raspberry pi public IP or the camera IP?
Re: Raspberry pi and Amcrest 2K remote cam setup
It is going to depend on how you have things setup... IF you have it setup as your PI being a DMZ or the ip setup as some type of forward for your camera then sure you could use the PI however most times you would also need to setup a Port ID to forward as well. I don't know if your PI has a Web UI of it's own if so they might conflict if not set up right...
Next issue is the system your accessing your PI or Camera from are you on the same IP range as the camera or PI... Like in my computer I have 7 or 8 I can't remember now IP's that I have setup to my Computer.. This lets me access IP ranges without having to change my IP all the time..
So take for instance some of the IP cameras I have bought came with Static IP and not setup to use a DHCP server and they come online with the same IP of 192.168.1.108 and seeing my normal IP address for my network is 10.0.0.109 I have setup 192.168.1.109 as another IP in my computer as well this way if and when I ever have to reset them I can just type in the address and make the changes to the IP to suite my needs... It wouldn't be an issue if they would connect to a IP Manage software but they don't ... I have others added in as well because they are other ranges in my network as well..
Gary is helping you however your hardware setup is outside the scope of normal Amcrest support and might be hard to find answers that fit your network needs.. Maybe Gary or another will have more info for your hardware but really going to be a guessing game as there is not much anyone can know about how you have things setup.. Wish you luck in your Project

Using the Pi as a bridge for the Amcrest stream is the cleanest way to avoid exposing the camera directly. Once RTSP is routed through it, you can access the feed remotely over VPN without changing anything on the camera.нулсбравл[size]
Re: Raspberry pi and Amcrest 2K remote cam setup
Using the Pi as a bridge makes sense here, especially for remote access. Routing the RTSP stream through a VPN is much safer than exposing the camera directly, and it keeps the camera setup simpler.Null's Brawl
