Just wanted to update this thread from the support inquiry I sent:

Make sure that you are using Internet Explorer or Firefox to load the plugin on your computer.
Reason being, microsoft edge & google chrome are having issues loading the plugin at the moment.
Thank you & have a great day.

Kind Regards,
.....
As a cursory I checked again with IE(latest version), Edge, Chrome(latest Version) all of which allow login, but do not allow streaming with the error "Resources Limited...". Note these did appear to work however on the LAN, so I am not sure what is being done for the video streaming that would behave differently. Lastly I tried firefox which upon login in gives a "Plugin failure" after allowing MMX plugin it too gives the same error message for the video stream.

I am still waiting to hear back from support with regard to some followup emails I sent. I also just filled out a support survey for this ticket which I am assuming got closed since I got the survey even though I sent response emails within 4 hours of the email quoted above advising it still didn't work, but did on LAN.

I guess I am going add this device to my reverse proxy setup to try to mitigate the issue, but this is not something that should have to be done. My reverse proxy is setup for other devices that do not offer a secure connection capability. I will try to update again if I have any success.

So I have to admit I am new to IP Cameras and figure others might be as well. Here are some interesting articles on HTTPS/SSL/TLS and video streaming:

Also just for information purposes for advanced users or those just curious:

Something interesting I saw that I will have to test later when I am back home is if UDP streaming works or not. It seems the same message is given for a UDP stream according to another post I was reading.

Could it be that the HTTPS page is using UDP for the video delivery? and HTTPS is using TCP?

I would definitely like to know as well.....I can't believe the lack of security.

Wow so 5 month since this thread was first started and three weeks since I have started asking about this and still no answer or response aside from we will let you know.

Keep in mind I submitted a support claim/case that was closed without being resolved, that is the support guy suggesting a fix and closing it even thought there were followup emails to the contrary and I left negative feedback on the "How did we do" followup email.

I have been PM'ing Melvin here and get some response, but I have to initiate the conversation and the only answer thus far is looking into it.

It would be nice to get a yes we have the same issue, we tested and do not have the issue here is out setup, an email or what not asking to discuss further or work with me, etc......

I'm having the same problem. It says that there are not enough resources when I try and get the live stream to play while trying to remote view on ssl. It works fine on http but I'm not willing to send my video unencrypted for the world to see. These are supposed to be security cameras, not spy cameras so everybody in the world can see. Unfortunately, I think this is going to be a deal breaker and I'm going to have to return the camera. Otherwise this would be a great camera if I didn't actually care about security.

I have gotten a private PM from Melvin stating that this is an issue that the developers are working on but there is no ETA for when this will be done.

Melvin thank you for the status update.

To others I know it is not the best but I do believe it is possible to setup a reverse proxy using NGINX, I have done this for other devices but not tried it for this one yet as an interim solution. I might re-purpose a raspberry Pi for this for till the fix is out.

I would think this would be on the top or near the top of the feature/bug list to get addressed in today's internet age and security are of up most importance to customers.

Well it has been a while since the last post and I have pinged Melvin 2 times( May 31st, and today) Never got a reply to my question have there been any updates to the issue so I am going to assume no.

I still take issue with this not being a priority to fix being as it is a selling point for the camera.

Any solution?

Via www/80 is fine, but https/443 all settings work fine, with the exception to be able to see the live feed due to the "Resources are limited, failed to play video stream".

Having to open port 80 to the internet should not be the solution these days....

Nope crickets.

I keep getting told it is being looked into but no idea of when it will be fixed. It was verified in email or IM on here that it was an issue, but that is the extent of it.

Unfortunately I am stuck with one of there cameras and have left negative feedback for this as i feel false advertising knowing this is not working but still saying " you will have secure access to your camera's video stream in no time". Non-https is not secure.

I do software at an AV company and most of my fellow engineers hardware and software have or are setting up home monitoring systems. I was giving this camera a chance as a possible replacement for my other cameras. Back when I first started posting I had several(atleast) 5 others interested in it as well. That would have been atleast 25 cameras had they worked as advertised.

It is sad really that there has been nothing to update or communicate progress for this item.
