ProHD No Video using HTTPS

Post by mcutugno »

I am attempting to use my Amcrest ProHD via HTTPS and cannot get any video when I access the web page remotely with HTTPS. It works perfectly when I forward the HTTP port to the camera and connect remotely. However, even after forwarding the HTTPS, TCP, and UDP ports to the camera, I cannot see video when logged in via HTTPS. I can get to the login page via HTTPS remotely, however, when I attempt to see the live video I get the following message:

"Resources are limited, Failed to play video stream"

Any suggestions?

I encountered the same error, "Resources are limited, failed to play video stream," though I'm connecting via Firefox (and the NPMedia plugin) to the http port over an encrypted (ssh) proxy. The live video stream is displayed successfully when using the same browser locally or when using the Amcrest View iphone app over OpenVPN. (The former successful example shows that this isn't a browser issue, and the latter example shows that this probably isn't a slow network problem.)

So, I'm also interested in hearing any suggestions.

Same issue here. I hope Amcrest tech support monitors the forums and posts a solution.

Same here. Amcrest service went down overnight. Still down. Looks like an issue on their end

I am learning I chose the wrong product! thank god I only bought one.... I tried Chrome and you have to use a plug-in and Kaspersky blocks it so I have to deal with that then I tried FF and I get this message then I tried IE and it works BUT I cant view my recorded video... Get it together Amcrest if your going to sell a product at least make software that works and is is compatible!

Yes, this product is quite immature. I have the "Resources are limited, failed to play video stream" when using chrome and IE on the internet.
It works if I am on the same home LAN. Fortunately my LiveCams Pro iphone app which works all the time for foscam cameras, sometimes works for this piece of junk. The end user documentation is terrible, it has too many features, and unfortunately doesn't work well. Stay away. :(

So, how did you guys setup the remote https access? If using port forwarding for remote web access, you need to forward the TCP and UDP port (which are typically 37777 and 37778) along with the https port in your router. You may have just forwarded the rtsp port which lets you get the direct stream, but not the one which the apps use.

Make sure the ports you forward are the same as the ones on the cam too, so the app knows where to connect remotely (37777 in port forward to 37777 on cam). It's also possible to set the bitrate over the upstream your internet has at home which can mess with the remote streams.

You should not have to have UDP enabled or forwarded for SSL/HTTPS as it is considered unreliable for such use. As for the forwarding if they are getting to the login page with https then they have set this up correctly.

I too am incurring the issue of "resources limited" when trying to view the video using the web plugin when using https. This so far has been with Chrome and IE/Edge.

I am using the latest firmware available via the amcrest website.

While I am technically savy there is nothing I can do about the firmware, this is an issue that amcrest needs to be looking at since in this day and age lack of secure access is a quick deal breaker.

I agree. Many many bugs. Very unreliable. Too bad because they do have a lot of potentially great features
