The IVS-driven motion alerts are quite accurate as far as not having false positives but the no. of emails that are generated for a single alert is excessive . During a single motion event, which per the timestamps in the recorded videos had a duration of 2 minutes 55 seconds, I received (13) emails, so:
- I don't see a setting on the IVS page for managing email frequency/intervals.
- The setting "Interval" does not exist in the SMTP (Email) settings like it does in the settings of other cameras.
- I also tried reducing the email frequency by increasing the Anti-Dither (AD) setting in the Event | Video Detection | Motion Detection section since per the manual additional emails are not sent until the "AD time has expired". But it seems like the settings in this section do not apply to IVS.
So how does one reduce/manage no. of emails generated from this camera ? If anyone has any information on this subject, please let me know.

Re: IP8M-2696EW-AI Excessive Emails
So to be clear your asking about SMD?
IVS and SMD are both a AI feature in some cameras and recorders. I personally don't have a cameras with SMD as my AI camera has Face and IVS only outside the normal motion..
So looking at my AI Dvr that does offer SMD I did turn on my Ch1 for SMD that I normally have connected with IVS seeing it post a image and keeps tracking of numbers using IVS rules. Anyway about SMD, I enabled and turned on my Email and it works as expected (1 Picture per event) Not that is what I want lol I would prefer to have event record images like motion does with 1, 3, or 5 images.
So while this might be something that is different with the DVR seeing it does have larger CPU, Ram, and computing space it might be that the DVR preforms better in this area.
So what I know about SMD, the system uses motion info and adds some AI parts to weed out the false alarms. Can you 100% tell that your getting SMD and not motion emails? Do you have motion enabled with emails? On my DVR when I make a change to the Anti Dither on the SMD and I go look at the motion area under the alarms that change is also moved there as well. So it might be that all info for AD is just in 1 place for your camera where I have it on the SMD page as well of my DVR... Your email should say that it was SMD I have some pictures below

Re: IP8M-2696EW-AI Excessive Emails
I am 100% sure that when "Send Email" is enabled ONLY on the IVS page, the camera generates quite a few emails. I am attaching a document with the settings that were in effect during the last test. As you can see, both Motion Detection and SMD are both DISABLED along with their respective "Send Email" setting....and I still got multiple emails. Specifically the latest test using the above settings yielded:
- A video of duration 1 minute 49 seconds (from 17:50:44 to 17:52:33).
- During this timeframe, I received (5) emails. The first email was timestamped 17:50:49 and the last one 17:52:18.

I would do a Factory Reset of your Camera, Maybe choose to only Put back at Factory Default first. Then don't do a Restore of settings because there is something wrong there..
Then log in as you normally would (IP address and all that will still be the same only settings will change) so log in, go to IVS, Enable SMD. Then go to email, setup your email server info, then go to SMD setup, and setup your zone, might have to do it in your normal motion either way setup the Grid for your motion area. Then back to SMD, and go to setting your values in there. Wow yours has 1, 3, and 5 options only option is 1 for all my AI hardware.
Leave the Anti-Dither the same as it was when you did a Reset, See if the system works as expected. IF it don't then I would do a Factory Reset of the camera and try again. IF it don't work as expected then I would DL the FW for your Camera and install it, Do a factory reset after it is done installing and then setup again. Even only FW offered is the one you have DL and install FW.
Not sure how it is sending you a email if you had them off as you stated. Anti Dither should be 5 from factory I think as most of mine are not all some I think was set at 10.. I normally leave it at 5.. Also moving to 0 normally would yield a higher then normal email count with high images..
