ip cameras 941 and 943 cannot resume uplaods to cloud after wifi disconnect and reconnect until hard reset done

Post by jin »

i bought 3 amcrest ip 943 cameras and 1 ip 941 camera. all 4 cameras had the same problem. when they are connected to the cloud uploading video if wifi is lost and then cameras reconnected to wifi they wont resume uploading video until a hard reset on the camera even though you can still see them in the cloud live view. i have tried this many times because our wifi router power cycles every few days. i have done the firmware updates and factory reset the cameras. i have tried different cloud services also. every camera has the same problem. that means they are not reliable to connect to the cloud to upload video because any time the wifi is lost and then they reconnect again to wifi they dont resume uploading video again until you physically unplug and plug the cameras back in or reboot them. even thought the firmware update for the 941 was supposed to fix this problem it didnt. i have tried to call tech support and they basically just say they are aware of this problem and are working on it. but how can i be sure it will be fixed. i am planning to return all the cameras to amazon before the 30 days are up if they dont come out with a fix for this otherwise why would i keep the cameras if they cannot reliably upload to the cloud? is there anyone who knows if or when amcrest will fix this issue and if there is any work around to it. i have found that amcrest vidoes are encoded to dav. files and only can be played in amcrest viewers so that mean other cloud services and ftp upload services other than amcrests wont really work. meaning you kind of have to use amcrest cloud - but it is not reliable because of this wifi connection issue resuming

I would really like to hear back from amcrest tech or cloud support on when and if this issue will be resolved. Thanks

Can you ask Amazon to extend the return period for thirty days pending resolution?

Hello jin,

Sorry to hear about the issue. I will pass this on to our R&D and give you an update as soon as possible. To confirm all cameras are on the latest firmware and a power recycle on the cameras fix it right?

i have updated all the firmware. i have done numerous factory resets hard resets. tried setting up the cameras on the app and web. we know that this issue of the cameras not resuming uploads after a wifi disconnect does not happen when connected to a cloud service that is only using ftp or the http port. however when we connect to amcrest cloud or another p2p cloud service if the wifi is turned off and on the cameras only reconnect to the cloud for a live view and do not resume uploads until the cameras is powered on and off. occasionally - very rarely they will resume uploads. but not all of them maybe only one camera.. but most of the time they don't. i have tried evey configuration even turning off my router firewall. nothing seems to work. i have called amcrest and talked to level 2 tech and one time they said they were aware of this issue but do not have an estimate time it will be fixed? and another time they didnt really seems to know of this issue. its very frustrating because this means we cannot use the amcrest cloud service we basically got this cameras for. i read online alot of other people have issues with the cameras suddenly stopping uploads and i wonder if its the same problem. we have a comcast router that seems to reset sometimes at night or during the day maybe comcast sends it updates occasionally and then thats whey the uploads from the cloud stop. alternatively i can just unplug the modem/ router and plug it back in -and see that ccameras will connect to live view on amcrest cloud but don't upload video until i physically unplug the cameras power cord and then plug it back it.

Hello jin,

Can you login into the camera web interface from a PC and ensure that it has a static IP address for the WIfi adapter? We have seen sometimes it takes a reboot if the cameras ip has changed as it has to connect to the server again with new IP.

it seems that any temporary loss of wifi signal even if the cameras reconnect to wifi again- causes the cameras to stop uploading videos to the cloud until the camera is rebooted. i have tried with 5 diff.amcrest cameras - 2 diff models and 3 routers. have tried many reboots and return to fact settings did all firmware updates. no change. this issue does not appear to happen when using a cloud server that uses rtsp/http or ftp. it only happens on clouds that are using the p2p connection like amcrest cloud. i hope amcrest tech support can help me to resolve this issue. i have tried to call in but have not fixed this. thanks

yes i have tried setting the cameras up with static ip and dhcp but they both have this issue. i have tried with upnp enabled and not enabled. sometimes it seesms to help to enable upnp and other times not. i also have the ddns server set up and port forwarding.

the cameras always reconnect to the cloud for live view always all the time after wifi signal loss. but they just don't resume uploading videos of the motion detected recordings until the cameras is rebooted. happens on all 5 cameras i have tried- 3 x ip3m943 and 2 x ip3m 941. other than this one issue the cameras work flawlessly. however this one issue prevents me from using amcrest cloud or any cloud service that is using the p2p connection where you don't need port forwarding.
