Camera Very Slooow to Connect

Post by hawkeye62 »

I have an IP3M-941 camera on my home network. It is setup for wireless connection. Lately it has been taking a long time to access the camera. Amcrest Surveillance Pro shows a list of the five cameras I have on the network. All cameras are online except for the prob camera which takes up to a minute to go online. Then after it is online it goes through several attempts to find the video. I have checked and checked the setup and can find nothing suspicious. Any advice would be appreciated. The camera is an indoor camera mounted under an exterior deck, no rain or snow.

I am thinking about getting a wireless camera designed to be outdoors. The ones I have seen all seem to be POE models, which will not meet my requirements. Any advice on an outdoor camera that is not POE?

1190w is first thought. However if quality counts the personally skip that one and go with ash47. Look the same in design however the ash47 is build better. Only down side is, it's a smart home product so it lacks WebUI. However it works with ASP.

I have a 941 on my front porch under cover. Have to reboot every now and again but works well. Maybe your power supply is not working right?

Power is from standard wall outlet on the deck. Then extension cord to near the camera then the adapter connected to the camera. I guess the adapter could have gotten wet.

Don't know the age of the camera. I am on my second Power Supply on my 941. I have a few different cameras like this and so for me it was easy enough to just use another supply from one of my backup 841's. Outside of that it might be a Router issue, Sometimes have to reboot my router to keep things working well. Not sure, Just some ideas of things that I found is an issue for my cameras. Don't have many on Wifi. However 941 and a 841 both out doors under cover is on wifi..

I am not sure what you mean by Power Supply". My power comes from standard 120 volt house power, and the adapter that converts the 120 volt AC to 12? volt DC.

Both the 1190W and the ASH477 appear to very early models, no longer shown on the Amcrest web sight. But, both are available on the Amazon web site. I think I would go with the 1190W because of the Smart Home feature of the ASH47. I may have to bite the bullet and run an ethernet cable through a wall to the deck.

Yes the little box that you plug into the wall or in my case the ceiling into the 120v power. Converts to 5v down thin cable to the camera. That box aka Power Supply is the one I have personally replaced on my 941 a time or 2. Even though it is out of the area of rain, I do live in high humid area and while I never did take it apart I just removed the power supply put in a new one from one of my 841's that I have for backup. After that the camera was back and working well again.

1190 and ASH47 are newer cameras. I personally don't know why they don't have them on the website. However I just looked and found on Amcrest Website. here is the 1190W https://amcrest.com/5mp-wifi-camera-ptz-ip5m-1190w.html

Looking at the smart home area for Amcrest here is the ASH47 https://amcrest.com/smarthome-2-megapix ... ite-1.html

Please keep in mind that I had the 1190W to start with. I only had it a week before I returned it to Amazon. I am a very forgiving kind of person and I personally couldn't forgive the 1190W to the point of keeping it.. The Ash47 to be honest I didn't want to buy that either because it is smart home product and I have enough of them already. However after the return I thought why not and when I had the ASH47 in hand I was happy to see that the build quality is much better and while it says only IP65 rated it is better then what the 1190w was...

However if your area is covered to the point of your use of a 941 then the 1190 will be ok. I just didn't like the motors they used and didn't feel like the normal quality of Amcrest where the ASH47 does fit the quality I have come to enjoy...

I never did find those Amcrest web sites. That is why I thought they were older models. My 941 is mounted underneath a first floor deck. There is a second story deck above and a roof above that deck. But rain does blow onto both decks and water might drip through. Any ideas about where I could get a new power supply?

I don't know how you do it! I just ordered the power supply. I am looking at details for the 1190W, but still not sure about what I want. Actually, the 941 has all of the features I want except night vision performance. The 941 doesn't have enough detail, everything is a little blurry. Any, I won't be buying any camera before May/June when it warms up.

I have been reading about the ASH47. Sounds like just what I want. I guess I can use Smart Home for one more camera. The only question I have is about the night vision LED how much light does it put out, enough to bother the neighbors? How good is the night vision with just IR?
