Programmatically start recording on NVR

Does anyone here know how to programmatically start recording on NVR?

I am developing an app for the following scenario:
- Leak detector has noticed water leak in the basement and notified IFTTT app.
- The app will send HTTP post request to Amcrest NVR to start video recording of Camera 1 in the basement.

Amcrest does have HTTP API SDK for cameras and I was able to programmatically take snapshots in the camera. My question is for the NVR, not camera.

It looks like you could do that using the NVR IP address and camera channel number in:

Good news. I am able to programmatically start a recording.

To start manual recording:
RecordMode[{channel}].Mode = 1

where {channel} is zero-based index of the channel (my NVR has 8 channels).

To stop the recording, set the Mode = 2 (if I don't do this, the recording will never stop). At the end, I need to set it back to automatic by setting Mode = 0.
