NV5208E FPS Issue

Post by AngieTexas »

I have four IP8M-2597E cameras, they state 4K 30FPS Ultra HD - 8MP POE on the box. I have the NV5208E NVR that also states, Record 8 channels up to 4K UltraHD (3840*2160) at 30FPS.

When I go to Settings/ENCODE, the highest I can set the "Frame Rate(FPS)" is "25".
Why or How, do I get to 30FPS recording and playback?

I tried dropping the resolution, didn't help. It also does not go past 25 on the sub stream1, which is set to 704*480.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry to say but that NVR don't do 30fps in the USA unless you set all your cameras to PAL.. Pal cameras will work 1-30fps and NTSC will work 1-25fps... This info can be found in the Manual on page 46 at the top of the manual

OMG - I see the small print in the Manual, it is not page 46 of the one that came with it, maybe the one you download.

The biggest lesson I have learned is, in the future - question EVERYTHING, take nothing at face value regarding security cameras and nvrs, there are so many things that just didn't turn out to be what I thought it would. Ugg.

I never thought an Amcrest Camera, Right Here Is Houston, Would Advertise 30FPS with regards to PAL in a country that is NTSC. So Frustrating, this experience....

With that said, thank you so much Revo2Maxx, you have been very helpful!

Thanks,

May I ask, If I change it to PAL, would I still be able to view it on my TV, Monitors and Smart Devices without issue?

PAL would have a better picture quality right?

Thanks,

Angie :)

PS - somehow I am thinking, this is not an option with what I have...

I am not 100% sure I have some cameras that are Mulit Protocol Pal Or NTSC and I have never changed them over to Pal. I mean One of my PTZ Domes always loads up in Pal then you will see on the screen that it changes over to NTSC and runs there.. Most if not all of my others ones that are Multi have to be switched in the OSD (On Screen Display) ot a Dip switch changed from 1 position to another... I think I had one that was Pal only but this is some years ago and I had flicker issues but again this was long ago before better hardware came into play when you had to worry about having a TVL monitor that was as high or higher then your camera to be able to view them. Now with digital displays that is less of an issue... To be fair I will say this.. Higher Frame Rate means higher demand on your Recorder.. this could come down to heat or the amount of bandwidth it can take... There is really nothing wrong with 25fps... I have a 2mp Recorder that my Max FPS is 12 and I get clear clean images that I can see more then I need to at times... Now under the same token this system also records the substream for my 1080p cameras at 720p and is in full 30fps so at times I don't really know if I am seeing the 12fps or the 30 on a lower stream because all I care about is getting the footage that is clean and clear so far no issue...

This is false advertising and ridiculous. It's an IP camera. There is no PAL/NTSC over IP, just a video stream of bits.

I just bought a few of these cameras for the high fps and just failed to select any FPS above 25, regardless of compression or MPs. Now I learn that it's an analog video sync standard that prevents 30fps? No...

Amcrest support, please advise on how to get the advertised 30fps on my new IP cameras.
System->General->Video Standard: doesn't show anything in menu except for NTSC. My older 15fps IP cams do allow the selection of PAL there.

On my Amcrest different model IP cameras, NTSC allows 30fps to be selected. PAL just allows 25fps to be selected. And that fits the definition of NTSC and PAL.

looks like WDR usage limits the FPS to 25.
