NV4108E-HS

Post by zplugger »

Just doing all my research on this model before buying. Thinking of running 6 or 7 P8M-T2499EW-28MM cameras. Just read this on a review, would it be correct?

I noticed this paragraph in the Amcrest Quick Start guide:

"The power consumption of a single POE camera is around 15.4W. The power consumption of a
single POE+ camera is around 25.5W. If the NVR’s POE or POE+ power consumption has been
reached, there are a few options that can be used; the additional cameras can be power via an
additional POE+ network switch or by using the included power supply."

So this negates getting an 8-port NVR that supplies power to cameras if I can only use 5 POE cameras, before having to purchase POE injectors of running additional power to the cameras.

There are many different things that companies have done to try and make this a working solution.

At times you might only have a 4 Port POE output on a 8 Ch POE NVR... the other 4 ch would be over the normal network port...

Also so you know I have a 24port POE Switch by Cisco that cost a Good Chunk of cash when it was new.. Not all 24 ports are POE only 12 are If I bought the 24 port one I would have had paid almost twice as much for it... And it would have been larger then a 1u Rack mount switch...

So then to 16ch POE that has 16ch POE ports... I just set one up and I can tell you that all Ports are powered over this NVR.. I don't own this NVR But I did help my Friend Bill set up his cameras and running all his cables... I did tell him that when he gets one of his Cameras he is still waiting on in. He might want to use a Power Injector because it is a Larger Power and might be over the normal that his NVR will put out... That is because it is POE+ and has a Heater, IR and blower along with all the other normal camera PTZ power and might be more then the NVR would want with all Ch in use... He said he will try it as it is before getting another POE Injector... I told him he will want to have one for normal Camera maintenance anyway lol.

Most times people don't have loads of POE+ devices and can get away with one or 2 on the NVR without an issue.
Be Safe.

You are talking way over my head on this stuff LOL . Can we make this a simple answer, will the NV4108E-HS run 8 IP8M-T2499EW-28MM cameras at the same time ?

OK Well yes you could Run power to all 8 from the NVR however just be it known because of the Limits in the NVR not all 8 can display on the Monitor over the NVR.. However over Browser and apps no problems
