New NV4108-HS firmware ETA?

Post by baldmagicguy »

I recently purchased and installed the NV4108-HS NVR to replace my 6 year old NVR, due to a sudden overheating issue which caused frequent rebooting. The first thing I did when I installed the NV4108-HS was update the firmware. I wish that I would have checked here first before updating.

It seems that I'm not the only one having the issue of Motion Detection and Alarms NOT working at all. I've tried all of the suggestions, offered here in this forum, to no avail. My cameras are Onvif compliant. Motion Detection worked just fine with my old NVR. This ain't my first rodeo.

Is there any word when a new firmware update will be released to fix this issue?

For now, I guess, I will let this thing record 24/7. Other than this issue, I'm happy with my purchase.

Cheers,
Marty

Its not just that. This firmware is terrible. Any playback in main stream thats higher than vga is lagged and unusable. Also the button to turn on audio is gone so you cant hear any audio. I have to use the amcrest pro surveillance app now for everything since the web gui is trash from this firmware.
Literally cannot playback any video on the main stream without huge lag. Didnt happen on prev firmware. And all my cams and nvr are hard wired over 1gb connections. Im a network engineer so dont think about blaming network. I cant rollback as it fails. Fix the firmware or face a consumer reports complaint.

Thanks for your reply. I only have 4 Onvif compliant cameras on my system, currently, with only one camera hardwired. I have tested playback of all and have not experienced any lag at all. I've been an IT professional since 1985. You'd think this technology would be further along by now.

@kgreen29 While it might not be a good or great thing to be without your device for any amount of time.. I would however contact Amcrest and see if they can Reflash your NVR for you with Older FW.. While the NVR is gone I would setup ASP to be your NVR while you were waiting for the NVR to be returned.. While this isn't always the easiest or fastest way I would contact Support and see if they could do that for you.. From what I heard this was only option for going back to non JS fw and that they would do it if needed..

Again there is back up ways to keep your cameras going to 1 place for data storage while it is being done and personally I would have it done in your shoes rather then waiting for a Update that there is no telling when it will be released. Sadly they don't have a small line up of systems or cameras and updates can take time to roll out unless there is a Security Issue that is known it might just get back lined until it's turn come back up...

Amcrest has a lot of unhappy customers because of this. It would be the kiss of death for them to only prioritize their firmware updates for security reasons. If they want to keep customers, they should be rolling out firmware updates more frequently to fix those features that the customers are using and deem essential. To have rolled out a firmware version that cannot be rolled back to a previous version is a huge mistake on their part. I'm considering returning my NVR and going with a different brand.
