Hello and Welcome to the Forum
Sorry to hear your having some issues... I am going to guess as I don't know I am not there have not seen your setup but I am going to guess from what I hear your system is having bad issues because of a Bad Power Supply...

Re: Need help, not working 2 years old
Is that a common issue?
Re: Need help, not working 2 years old
Also is that within the nvr or just the plug portion
Re: Need help, not working 2 years old
If it is like I am guessing that it might be it would be the Power from the Wall to the NVR... These sadly do go out and at times people spend loads of time trying to find out why something isn't working to find out in the end it was related to the Power supply. Sadly I can't say that it is common.. But if it is as most systems are Running full time 24/7 the box can get HOT and then the install might be around an area that is heated and so that also makes them go bad as well... Some times a person that has the ability and know how to work on Circuits would at times take the Power supply apart and find the issue.. Most times it is Related to the Caps drying out and after Caps being replaced with same sized units the system works as expected...
Others that don't work on Electronics and have a Nice Hakko or Weller Solder Station might elect to just find a new power supply within the Specs of the one that the system has now.. Making sure the Polarity is in the direction but in most cases today all plug in Wall Wort will have the inside + and the outside - However that info will be on the Power supply in most cases either way....

Re: Need help, not working 2 years old
Ok I will pick up a new PS, and see how it works. I will let you know how it goes, thanks for the advice way better than amcrest support call center
Re: Need help, not working 2 years old
Well sadly right now the Call Center most people are working from home and some issues with support being maybe subbed out to help keep the Call Center open for help... Alot of times when you call with a Problem with something if they have not had that problem they have to take it to someone that has... I have been in CCTV for many years and Electronics for 40 of them years... I have had systems back in the day when thing were run on Reel to Reel lol.. Some people today would be like what is Reel to Reel lol... Anyway I have had loads of fails in my history and I have had many events of scratching my head trying to either find a FIX or waiting for a replacement because while I am ok at tracking down problems with the tools I have... Not many people have said tools and I haven't always had the tools so after some time I buy new and revisit the issue to discover the problem later... Before I started using my Own power supply I went through a few along the way... Sadly they are only as good as the Components that are in them... Plus I have a few to many cameras and DVR/NVR's so if there is a Power Fail I will know right away because if it is PS related I will have more then 1 as an issue... If one goes offline then I know it is more likely a Fuse issue or Unit related... my 5 units run on 2 power supplies to the Recorders Each backed up to cameras that will catch same footage of another just for that reason.. Now if I travel to the West coast like I do at least once a year being gone for 2 weeks I am sure I will not miss anything...

So this is the adapter I have, any recommendation for a replacement? I would rather get a different one

Re: Need help, not working 2 years old
To be honest it would be hard to give a good idea of what you should buy... However for me because I have been in the CCTV for long while and have a few to many different types of Power supplies here is what I would do if it was me...
Because of the good long life that Mean Well Power supplies have giving me over the years.. I would buy a Mean Well 48vDC Power supply, Put on the Power cord watching the way it needs to be connected as it is clearly marked, Then I would buy 16awg aka gauge wire and the unit plug for the NVR.. Then noting and testing that the Ground wire is connected to the outside of the plug and the Positive is connected to the inside of the plug. Make sure it is out of reach of Children and plug it all in and turn it on.. While they do cost little more and don' t come in a nice small compact plastic housing they do get good air movement and as long as is installed in a nice not to damp or hot of a location it will last you for good long time...
Right now the 5amp one cost more then the 7amp one and I would have bought the 7amp anyway.. But you can find them on that Auction site ?-Bay... May be able to find them on Amazon as well..
Just keep in mind that all the polarity needs to be in the right order and I would test the connection before hooking it to the NVR to make sure that it is 48v and ground on the outside of the round plug as your current power supply shows now......
