I've just bought one of these guys after messing around with a slew of other software products, and I am having problems tuning the motion detection.
On virtually every other platform, I have been able to tune my motion detection rather well, but with the NVR I am having a tough time... usually talking about night shots (when there is a lot of noise) I usually disable 3D NR because it causes ghosting when people walk by, but i think my motion detection is firing on the noise that comes in as a result...
What I am wondering, is there any way to have the NVR highlight what triggered the motion... i.e. can it circle it in red, or anything like that, so I can see what I need to tune? I think there are several cases where a moth or something has flown by, and unfortunately, i dont think i can tune all of those out... but I would like to see what exactly triggered the threshold so i can better tune the settings..
Any ideas?
Thanks,
X

Re: Motion Detection Debug on NV4108E-HS
In the Amcrest camera Web UI, use the detection area screen. Lit up blocks indicate motion. In the graph, threshold is the line near the bottom that can be moved. See video below. Somebody will have to explain to you how to use it with a NVR involved.

Hello and welcome to the forum
As jack7 said best way would be on the camera webui however seeing your using a poe NVR this could be a challenge unless you have a pow switch or injector. Once you make changes it should make the changes when you connect back with nvr. Mine does anyway. Set mine mostly to full time record these days.
One thing I like using Win7 is the grid lights up with movements and you can use that with the region settings to make adjustments. Like at my cabin I was using an old laptop to setup my camera again on my porch and smoling a pipe the smoke would lite up the grid. I can see graph and I can tune by making adjustments to threshold so the smoke isn't picked up.
Once I make the changes inside Dection area out of habit I save again on motion detect page. The camera adding back to nvr makes changes in there on my 4108h anyway. I do have a couple cameras that don't change in nvr so I always double check.

Re: Motion Detection Debug on NV4108E-HS
OK, so the short answer -- the NVR is using the camera motion detection... I suppose that makes perfect sense! I should give that a whirl.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Motion Detection Debug on NV4108E-HS
I just upgraded my nvr to 5216, and the original firmware in it came with a screen that should which block had motion. It was in the setup for motion detection.
New firmware does not have this feature. Bummer.

Re: Motion Detection Debug on NV4108E-HS
I asked the R&D team to change this.
I think the camera and the nvr should have separate configurations for motion setting; a two tier method, I call it.
This way the camera can be set up with a lower sensitivity and send and email, and the nvr with a high sensitivity with no email to capture more (just in case).
Re: Motion Detection Debug on NV4108E-HS
Sadly in this case the OP has a POE NVR and the cameras can't talk to the Internet if connected to the NVR's Port so motion between devices are in need to be 1 of the same...
Main reason and one reason it will not change... AI there are camera and Recorders that are AI and the hardware works off the hardware of the other device.. IF they started to write a Program that will limit the NVR's ability to get access to the Cameras Motion info the device may not function correctly.. One of the main reason that some Cameras don't work with some recorders because the Motion settings between the devices are not able to talk to one another..
So for people that have non POE setup not talking about you having a POE switch and or injector and using a camera on a normal NVR I mean POE setup with camera behind the POE NVR.. One could setup the Camera motion to send out emails on Motion and setup the NVR as FULL recording with no motion or even motion for ease of search with Full Record as main setup... So that is how I had mine setup when I was using Email.. I have since left the Email as there is just no fun in setting up something then get 100 or more emails a day about useless things when the Bugs are out, it rains, it snows or there just to much wind... Push to my phone I can turn off when I want, even if I am away from home... But I have the ability to get Fast Alerts in areas that have no traffic or no rain. Alerts on my Front door camera that facing the Porch and not the road or trees or anything that would false so when I get alert on that camera I know there is a real reason, in my Garage, in my Shed or my Basement stairs these are area that wouldn't false alert so they can stay on but others I can turn on and off when needed...
On my POE NVR while there are others out there that have better options then my Dahua 8ch with 4 port POE and my 8ch Amcrest with 8ch POE but I do use the devices to deliver alerts for cameras that I want to keep track of with the idea that I can limit when I get an alert...
