68 year old new guy

Post by ScoobyNYC »

Hello I’m new. I have my 8 mp dual lense cam up and running. All done strictly through amcrest nvr. Have some sort of tripwire set, I’m wondering am I missing out on features because I have only used nvr and not the pro software.

Currently I do not plan to connect to anything other than my computer. I tried to find one of the million videos for this simple setup, but there’s always something different, involving a switch or router but nothing as plain as “computer connected to nvr and nvr to cam.

So the question is am I missing out? Ok that was the first question, now the second is I was hoping to connect via a browser but the cam ip isn’t in the range or so I think, am I helpless?

So if you have a tripwire setup and the NVR you are recording to works with Tripwires then you are set, However if you want alerts of the events then yes you will need to use AVP2 for the events. Keep in mind that if your NVR is POE and camera is setup on the POE switch of the NVR the NVR is where you will need to make contact with the camera and the NVR is where the alerts will need to be setup with.
Be Safe.
