I have 12 Amcrest Shield cameras connected to a Xeoma server right now, and performance has started suffering recently as most of them are on Wifi.
Currently the Xeoma server is connecting to each of the cameras using the substream.
My question is, is the main stream still active when nothing is connected to it? I'm currently only using the substreams, so should I just disable the substream and reconfigure the main streams to have the same settings as the current substreams?
Will bandwidth usage be lower if I disable substream?
Re: Will bandwidth usage be lower if I disable substream?
Hello edasaki,
You can lower the main stream quality to save bandwidth. Leave the substream enabled, as the substream is used on smart phone apps.
Unless viewed from any platforms, there will not be any Data/bandwidth usage.

Okay, thank you!
If I reduce the bit rate will that help save bandwidth as well?
