WIFI security

Post by gammy999 »

Yes, I upgraded by firmware on my TP DECO M5 mesh today and it implemented the more secure WPA2-PSK[AES]...cameras would not come back online...I have these models IP4M-1026 and IP3M-941...all purchased between dec 2017 and sept 2018....will these not work with WPA2 - PSK [AES]? tks

I have all 3 of my cameras connected by ethernet but I just tried one of the IP3M-941's on wi-fi and it negotiated a WPA2-AES connection to my router without any problem except that I saw in the router that the negotiated speed was only 6Mbps in both directions despite the camera saying that the signal strength was 80% which seems very strange. My iPhone is showing as having a synchronous 300Mbps from the same location.

Thanks longedge for doing that...my camera is December 6, 2017 bought...so a little older. I switched from my ATT router/modem to this new MESH and the firmware upgrade to the mesh was security related (adding WPA2 - PSK [AES]) support. But on ATT I think it defaulted to WPA2 - PSK [AES] and the cameras worked on it.....so it may be something else.....maybe a channel setting for 5ghz and 2.4ghz? not sure...open to ideas..tks

I can't really help further but I can add that I have 2.4 GHz disabled on my router, it was on 5GHz.

Are you using a fixed IP. If so, has that changed with the update?

my outside cameras are 2.4 only...the one 941 can do both so I have to have 2.4/5 on. I am using DHCP on my router with ipv4 set as dynamic ip and ipv6 disabled.

Only other thing I can suggest is to do a factory reset and start again from scratch.
