Hi. When I configure the storage location, for vids and pics for motion alerts etc, to be FTP... there appears to be no way to view the pics and vids except direct FTP access. This wouldn't be so bad but the dav format compounded w/ the endless subfolders and strange and un-useful naming convention makes it difficult to browse for what a person is looking for.
Am I missing something or is using FTP as the storage location really as bad as I see it to be? I spoke to Amcrest support today and Chris (I believe was his name) confirmed that indeed FTP recordings, in his knowledge, are very limited as I've described above. If these FTP recordings could be accessed through any of the apps interface like the SD card recordings could... that would be great. Otherwise, MP4 needs to be made available as format and directory structure need not go any deeper than listing dates. File format could be something like AmCrest_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.mp4.
Interested to know if I understand this right and if there are plans to update and provide better functionality in a coming firmware release.
Thanks,
Jim

I couldnt agree more on everything you pointed out, so frustrating to discover. I thought I had done enough homework on this product before buying, had I know its current playback limitations in full I would of looked elsewhere. Amcrest, please update to allow playback from an FTP server. I would think it would be a simple mod that allows to specify an address or url for the location of the recorded files?

I would like this ability also. Can I be notified once available? Without being able to play the files uploaded to FTP it really hinders the ability to review them easily.

Amcrest does not seem to be interested in adding any ability to use a reasonable (non-DAV) file format, so I advise returning your cameras while you still can.

Last time I checked it was mp4 type files! Guess they did change it. It's a big dead for all of us. Plus I'm not sure but 'deepness' of directory structure also has been updated. it's still deep though like date/001/dav/time/files.mp4. You can easily shave two directories off. Still with new mp4 format I'm fine. My problem is 30% of recorded files for some reason recorded with error and having name like XXX.mp3_ they are NOT playable and it's really frustrating since I can't find out why it is happening.
