Web UI Alarm Log?

Post by CHMN »

New owner and learning the capabilities and features. What exactly is the Alarm screen in the Web UI of an IP camera (between Setup and Logout in upper right)? I thought is was to view a log of events, but it is always blank. All the alarm types are checked, I would have expected to get a listing of the Motion Detection events. The camera is recording and taking snapshots, I have gotten emails and app notification, but nothing listed on this page. Also, When/Why would I prompt? Searches of the support KB and this forum came up empty. Not a big issue, just trying to understand.

If your camera has an Alarm input you can have it setup and do things and on motion it can do things over alarm out if you had an out as well.

It appears that it is an alarm/event log for the current Web UI session. If the Prompt box is checked and on page other than Alarm, a little alarm beacon appears next to the Alarm button in the toolbar. The Play Custom Alarm [sound] did not seem to work. Inexplicably, it missed a couple of events that were logged in the Setup - Information - Log.

Sorry sadly I am not sure.. I turn off all my Alarm types in my Amcrest Cameras. I don't like logging in a seeing the little thing click on and off and really do nothing so I have them off.. On another camera that I use input and output devices on the camera I do use the alarm functions and have worked well for me.. I did play with the Amcrest Alarm settings and functions and while some work and others just didn't do as I expected them to I just figured I wouldn't use them and not worry about things until I really need them.. I have loads of other cameras that I use or have used the alarm functions with expected results.
