Video Overlay Repositioning Gone - IP4M-1028

Post by joshb »

Has the ability to reposition/move video overlays been removed in the newest firmware? We used to be able to move the Channel Title and Time by clicking and dragging on the overlay itself under Camera -> Video -> Overlay. I have been doing this with my cameras for years. I called Customer Service and the rep attempted to move the items for a solid 10 minutes before telling me that this feature had been removed in the newest firmware update. He seemed highly uncertain and couldn't explain why the camera manual states the items can be moved by clicking and dragging, even as the firmware apparently removed this ability.

This seems like a very odd thing to actively remove. The default positions frequently block important parts of my image. Can anyone confirm this feature is actively gone? If so, I may need to purchase a non-Amcrest camera.

I use the IP4M-1026. The firmware page shows the 1026 and 1028 have current firmware entries that download .bin files with the same name, date, and file size. The 1026 has a previous firmware entry and the 1028 does not. I use the 1026 previous firmware there dated 7/20/2017, and repositioning works fine. I haven't used the 1026 current firmware. I suggest you send an email to support@amcrest.com explaining your problem and requesting a copy of the 1028 previous firmware.
