I have a WiFi camera connected to my network, which is also hooked into my NVR for recording.
Using any of the clients to administer my devices, it seems I can configure many settings on the camera itself, as well as the camera's profile within the NVR? Should things like Video Detection (e.g. zone(s), dithering, notifications) be configured on the camera itself, or within the NVR channel context?
I'd really like to use the NVR as the single point of configuration, as it just makes things easier, but I also see there are more options in general by configuring the camera directly. What's the 'correct' way?
Video Detection - Configured on Camera or through NVR?
Re: Video Detection - Configured on Camera or through NVR?
Hello Morgon,
As long as they are Amcrest cameras and added through the private protocol, it should work either way. The settings in the camera should apply to the channel on the NVR I believe.

But should I be adding all of my cameras directly to Amcrest View via the QR Code first, or is it enough to plug them (the POE cameras) in to the DVR straight out of the box? This may be largely unneeded because they're hidden behind the NVR, but one disadvantage I'm seeing is that I'm never prompted to update the password on those new cameras.
Re: Video Detection - Configured on Camera or through NVR?
Hi,
Scanning QR code or adding them in Amcrest view is not necessary. The cameras can be directly connected to the NVR or through a POE switch to the router. It is recommended though to set up the detection settings through the NVR itself.
