I am generally happy with my new IP2M-841B, but it seems to reboot every 2 days for no reason. Once it reboots, it is fine, but I would like to prevent this, or at least find an explanation for why it happens.
I am a software developer and I recently purchased a IP2M-841B to test with the IP Video software I develop. The software is designed to connect to IP Cameras via RTSP and remain connected for weeks/months at a time. We typically use Axis cameras, and they always remain connected for long periods of time without problem. I am evaluating the IP2M-841B as a cheaper/better alternative to Axis, and I think the camera is great, but the camera seems to reboot every 2 days, which causes a drop in the RTSP connection.
I checked the settings via the web page, there is an auto-reboot feature, but it is not enabled. I connect with an Ethernet cable not wifi. The camera has a stable IP assigned by the router. No other software should be connecting to the camera. The RTSP connection to the software is TCP, not UDP. The software is very stable and can remain connected to cameras without dropouts for months (perhaps years) at a time.
Is rebooting something this camera is programmed to do? Does it reboot in response to an internal error? Is there special RTSP commands that my software should be sending to prevent disconnection?
Thanks,
Kyle Judd

Re: Unwanted reboots
Think this is the same problem I am having except my camera reboots every 3 minutes or so on hardwired Ethernet connection.
