THE FASTEST PLAYBACK? (1080p 4cam 1tb dvr)

What is the fastest way to play back video? I've tried to directly review video from the DVR seems that 3x speed is my only option which is not fast enough. Then I tried IE playback the image refreshes and stops when I try to go faster it does not like going faster than 1x. Lastly tried surveillance pro with a local connection (windows) and was probably the worst of all 3 options. I'm thinking I need to buy a flash drive and export the video directly from the DVR and review video that way? I tried to export a video clip it was approximately 10min from IE and it took nearly 2 hours to complete . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
