Stay With Cloud or get Amcrest NVR?

Post by frogg »

I have two POE cams on Amcrest Cloud, and I like it when it works correctly. I like the simplicity of cloud and not having more hardware to maintain, but simplicity is two-edged. Many settings are not available in cloud, and since cloud overrides change made in the IP Config program, I am stymied. I could live with less tweaks, but as it stands, one or the other, or both of my cams have been failing to record at frequent intervals, and must be rebooted using IP Config. Tried setting auto-boot in IP Config to help the situation, but auto boot will not stick. Sometimes, a cam will not even show up in IP Config to be rebooted, and I must physically unplug and replug from POE switch to restore connectivity (switch is in attic). My question is would Amcrest NVR be more stable and reliable, or is situation just what it is? I might spring for an NVR, but not if it just means spending more money and continuing to have same problems. I welcome comments and suggestions. Cams are IP3M-956E and IP2M-844E, if it matters.
