Solved: The problem went away after trying a different FTP server. I guess the original FTP server disconnected after some timeout and caused the camera to get confused...

Please help me figure out why my IPM-721B is unable to record continuously (e.g. for 10 hours in 1 hour chunks) but instead it records small chunks of 1-2 minutes only for sporadic duration.
I have a schedule for everyday, 8:15 AM to 9:15 PM, for general recording (not motion-detect or alert) to write to an FTP server.
I've set the pack size to 60 minutes.
The result is like this... about 1 minute here, and another minute there, but not a continuous 60 minute chunk.
Mode LastWriteTime Length Name

----- 2/13/2017 10:10 AM 1912083 17.59.46-18.01.11[R][0@0][0].mp4
(also see screenshot of the FTP directory below)
In the schedule, I only have general recording. No motion-detect or alert. So what's going on here?
Also, the camera seems to spontaneously reboot all by itself throughout the day, just randomly. I can tell because all of a sudden it rotates to the back and forth (like it does when you power it on)
solved -- unable to record continuously; also reboots by itself
