Hi there,
I'm using an Amcrest IP camera in a remote location where the internet connection is being provided by Satellite. For power reasons, the Satellite connection can only be maintained for say 6 hours per day. For the remaining 18 hours the camera is recording to MicroSD offline. I'm looking for a solution that when the Satellite comes online each day that the video captured offline can be uploaded to an offsite location that combined with the online data creates a full 24hrs of video capture.
Ideally it would be good to have this functionality on the Amcrest Cloud i.e. where the MicroSD would buffer and it would upload the delta once the internet connection has been restored, however I haven't been able to get that to work. Looking for advice from the community if this is possible and if so, how. Thinking about other out of the box solutions like is it possible to "back fill" video if FTP is being used? Could I store the data to a local FTP Server and then upload the entire 24hrs contents when the internet comes online. Ideas such as this.
Look forward to any advice people may have.
Thanks
Paul
Solutions for non-permanent internet connections
Re: Solutions for non-permanent internet connections
Hello and welcome to the forum.
What hardware is installed at the remote location. IP camera/s and presumably a modem/router and a PC all running 24/7. I'm thinking in the first instance about Windows Scheduled tasks but that may not be appropriate.

Re: Solutions for non-permanent internet connections
Thanks for the reply.
Camera's I'm using at the moment are IP3M-943B's. Have a Sat Modem + Router/Wireless AP. The router consumes far less power than the Sat Modem so could be left on. So one option I was thinking about was to install an onsite FTP server with a Raspberry Pi or something low power like that with some scheduled task that could run on it. Ideally it would be good if Amcrest handled this out of the box as it has the MicroSD buffer and knows when the link was up and down so has all of the components to create a complete video archive.

Re: Solutions for non-permanent internet connections
I do like to create my own solutions and for a long time I've threatened to get a Raspberry Pi and learn Python but it's never going to happen for me. I've got to the stage where I walk though a door and can't remember why
.
The software that I use would easily manage all the aspects you require, scheduled test for available internet connection, on success connect to ftp server and transfer a folder full of files, perhaps delete local files on success.
You could put it forward as a suggestion, in the "Feature/Device Request" forum but with the added information that you've given someone else might be able to come up with something 'ready made'. I have a long history of 're-inventing the wheel'.

Re: Solutions for non-permanent internet connections
Could you tell me the software that you use? Thanks
Re: Solutions for non-permanent internet connections
Certainly it's called Autoplay Media Studio by Indigo Rose. Feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss as it's probably not appropriate here.
