Snapshot and Video event triggers.

Are snapshots and video recordings triggered by different settings? I check my snapshots each morning but then very often find that there is no corresponding video for the snapshot e.g. last night I got a snapshot of a fox but there is no video of it at all.

Go to Event, Video Detection. Is the Record box checked?

This appeared to be related to the fact that I had an audible alarm enabled - don't quite understand why but the alarm was sounding far more often than recorded events were triggered and every alarm was taking a snapshot (at least that how it seems).
At the moment I am waiting for an RMA advice because the SD card slot is broken and won't keep the card inserted. To be honest I lost patience with the camera a long time ago. I'm recording events to my NAS via FTP (the NAS option absolutely refuses to work) and the pre-record doesn't work. I have it set to the max 5 seconds but the videos recorded are always missing the first few seconds!!

I'm completely fed up with this camera and am now looking at alternatives. I've been offered an RMA as long as I pay for it ???? Are they guaranteed or not?
