Slow playback
Slow playback
I have a IP4M-1028 dome camera in the garage about 25ft from the router and 4 walls in between. It's currently in wireless mode. When the camera detects motion and I play back the video, it is very slow. I have to speed it up by 4x. Last week I connected it directly to the router but the speed is still the same. I thought the problem could be the Amcrest View Pro app or my android phone. So I played it back on my wife's iPhone and it was slow also. Does anybody have this problem and how do I correct? I have 50 mbps internet. I ran speedtest in the garage and it was 49 mbps on average. I have no problems watching HD videos on Netflix.
Re: Slow playback
Hi bhc,
If you are using SD card for recording please make sure that SD card should be class6 and above and below 128GB.

Re: Slow playback
Hi Melvin,
My SD card is class 10, 64GB. I have tried to reformat it using Amcrest Web View but that did not make it any faster.

Re: Slow playback
I have a 4M-1026, and your problem is likely performance of the phone, or available wifi/cell bandwidth. There is too much data being sent/received. The main thing to do is:
reduce video resolution (also reduces your field of view)
reduce your frame rate(fps) (affects smoothness of moving objects)
reduce the bit rate (affects quality)
You need to adjust any or all of these to get the results you want. You can use PC Web interface or View Pro to change the settings, but it would be best to use Web interface.
Right now your android probably works OK with Live View. That's because your Live View is set to Extra in View Pro-Device Manager, which means camera substream(VGA) is used. Playback set to Extra does not function. It stays at Main stream.

Re: Slow playback
Thanks, Jack7. You are right. I maxed out all settings in the camera. The videos played faster after I reduced the resolution to 1080P, FPS, quality and stream limit. The problem is, like you said, the field of view was reduced so much. I don't know why at maximum settings, the videos plays at natural speed in Surveillance Pro. So is it because the phone app is not optimized to play back high resolution videos? Is it a bug that playback in the app stays at Main stream? It's a waste of money when I paid for a 4MP camera but have to use lower resolution/settings. I plan to buy a 4K 8MP POE camera for my driveway. I will have to rethink about it now.
Re: Slow playback
Not all cameras have reduced POV with reduced resolution, it depends on the camera model design. Neither one is necessarily bad.
If POV is important to you, you could try this.
2688x1520
15 fps
1792 or 2048 bit rate
You may not see much change on your phone except it's not so slow. Zoomed in views may suffer more in quality. If not good, experiment with other fps and bit rates.
desktop vs smart phone (Surveillance Pro vs View Pro).

When a MD video file is stored on the SD card, it can be from the mainstream or substream. Using the Web interface, this option can be set for a camera in Settings/Storage/Record Control.
