I have five IP3M-943 cameras and after 6 to 12 months of use they have stopped recording to their SD cards. I get no notice of this , instead discover it by trying to use the playback. Sometimes I can reformat the card using the Windows app (Amcrest Surveillance Pro) or a browser interface, and then they work again for another 6 months or so. Sometimes the app or browswer interface cannot communicate with the SD cards and then I have to take them out of the camera and reformat them in a PC and then they usually work again.
I have used Kingston 64GB cards in most. In one, I recently put in a 64GB SANDISK SD card and it is still working. Is it just me or are others having these issues? I see a couple comments on the forum that SanDisk® High Endurance microSD™ Cards should be used. If that was the case, it would have been nice to see that in the literature from Amcrest. I am happy to replace my cards with these cards if I am confident it will resolve my issue.
I love the cameras except for this and it is stopping me from buying more Amcrest cameras or recommending them to others.
Thanks

SD cards have a limited number of read-write cycles before they start to corrupt data. Its usually not a problem until you use one in a device that is writing 24/7, like a security camera. Having to tear down said camera to replace said card is also a pain in the butt, but that seems to have been the best solution to keeping the card secure and dry.
Also, if the card isnt seated just right the camera may or may not seize up.
I havent found any literature that addresses the lifespan of sd cards in Amcrest hardware but time will tell...

Thank you for the response. I will purchase a couple of 64GB SanDisk® Max Endurance microSD™ Cards.

hi @securityJim and welcome to the forum. i only use genuine sandisk and lexar sd cards on critical applications. others are okay too but i can't take any risk using any other brands on critical applications.

Had my IP3M-943 for a less than a year. On October 10, while I was away from home it quite recording. I would still get notifications, but playback would say no recording available. I am using SAN Disk 64GB Ultra, not sure it is the Max Endurance. In any case, going through the log I saw an Eject event on October 10. Yesterday I was able to cycle power and the log immediately listed an Eject event. Since it was ejected, I could not format it via the UI. I manually removed it and checked it out on my PC (worked OK) and reinserted it. It was essentially full, I do not recall exactly what the camera UI said, but my PC said 1.97GB was still available. Once it was reinserted in the camera, I was able to format it and it is recording again. Would being full cause it to eject? I have Disk Full setting in Storage Record Control set to Overwrite.
