Recording options versus Alarm Motion Action Trigger to record

Post by lbutlr »

I am still trying to wrap my head around the various settings for recording.

It seems to me that if recording is set to "Normal" for all hours of all days, and Alarm is set to trigger on motion in an area and to trigger record when the alarm occurs, then if I walk into the Alarm > Motion > Area and wave my hands around, that should be recorded as an Alarm. Trouble is, it isn't. It's recorded and marked as "Scheduled" evidently because Sunday is "Normal" on the recording schedule instead of "M.D."

So, it appears in order to get an alert anytime someone is in the driveway I have to set the record schedule to "M.D." for all hours of all days, I have to put up with things outside the alarm motion area triggering an alert (and a recording) and I have no way to control when an alarm generates an image in the email and when it doesn't.

Is that all correct or am I missing something? Hopefully I am missing something because it doesn't seem like "record and alert only when you see movement in this area" is an esoteric desire, rather it seems like exactly what everyone would want for most cameras.

I could not agree more. I am running into the same issue If I understand you correctly. I want to be recording any motion "all the time". But only want alerts in a separate schedule.

My Hikvision system had separate recording and notifying schedules.
