record saved for more than 1 week

Post by lagrabow »

I would like to find out how, if even possible, to setup my NVR[NV4108-HS]/camera(s)[IP3M-943] to save my MD recordings for more than 1 week, like say 1 month. Is this possible?
IP cams - Amcrest 943W [3- wired], Dahua [1 wired], 2 Lorex w/sound [wired], 1 no sound [wired]
NVR - NV4108-HS with 1TB HDD

Record all events in Extra aka Sub Stream format... Also another way is rather then recording in 3mp format lower to 1080p that can help as well.. However as I was saying the best way to keep your recordings for longer time on Motion Detection is to Record your events in Sub Stream that most times is running in 640x480 you will be able to get longer record times under that format...

Also depending on the Area or types of events you might need to setup your MD a little stronger to keep away from bugs or lights setting off your MD events most times for me anyway I would get an event that has nothing at night because a camera that is running in IR is being bothered by Bugs.. Best way to counter this is to use a IR Blaster or just set your camera to only record in Color if you have enough light in your area...

I have a Camera in an area that don't get much foot traffic and I will admit that before I put in another IR unit it would get some false alerts.. Last month I changed out my Blaster for a Dual light camera and was impressed that mainly on calm nights I only have Change over from IR to white light triggering the camera at night.. If there is no white light trigger or anything moving that is detected then there is no events until sun up when the camera changes from b/w to color and that is mainly because my Dual light camera always clicks on the white light just before change to color... Also while there is no limbs or leaves in my Grid on very windy and stormy days my Amcrest camera will have events for picking up shadows or it might be that the Mount is little shaky as well.. Sadly this is a Camera that is not designed for outdoors and is under a 10x10 deck roof so there is no water issue and have yet to see any dew on very humid nights seeing it is at the building and back of the porch area where not much water get to even on windy rain events.. I have noticed the mount shakes a little on really windy days.. I have better non Amcrest mount I don't know why I just don't use one..

Anyway the last 2 days I have had 4 events on calm days.. One of them events was caused by the switch from night to day.. Right now I have 32gb card that has been recording for 1 week and I have set my camera to have 0 Anti-Dither and 60 second Delay so I get 1 min recording on Events, it says I have 25gb left and there was a day or 2 that was very stormy... I have been checking it often to make sure it don't get low because I have it in an area that I don't have a connection to my main Recording devices.. Right now have a DVR there that don't have IP channels recording 4 other cameras normally 6 cameras but have 2 removed right now for my porch cams testing..
Be Safe.
