QSD-481 Won't turn on/OK To Format SD While In Camera?

Post by Quadzilla »

Hello everyone,
I just bought a QSD-481 camera and installed in it a SanDisk Ultra 64GB microSDXC UHS-I Card, (SDSQUNC-064G-GN6MA) however did not format the SD card prior to installing it into the camera. Is that format required? I ask because when I started the Qcam widget it allowed me to make changes to the settings and and scheduling. However, when I press the power button to turn the camera on the green light will light up for approximately 2 seconds then turn red for approximately 2 seconds then turn off. I tried this several times but could not get the light to stay on. I also noticed no recordings had taken place when I plug the camera back into my PC.

FYI, when the camera is hooked up via a USB cable, two additional drives show up in Windows Explorer, the first letter M drive has the files pmp_USB.ini, Winamp_metadata.DAT and Winamp_metadata.IDX. The other drive letter is P and it contains four .DAT files named info, schedule, settings and time.

I'm assuming I still have to use the supplied "GUI format tool" to format the SD drive but I'm wondering if I can do the format while it's still in the camera or do I have to remove it and install it in my PC for formatting (I ask because I'm disabled and it's very difficult for me to remove the card from the camera). If I can format it in the camera, which drive letter do I format, M?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hello Quadzilla ,

Sorry to hear about the situation. Unfortunately you need to connect the SD card to the PC separately and format it in fat32 format using the GUI format tool before you can start using it.
