Position PTZ Control Command not working for IP4M-1051B

Post by swabygw »

Section 4.10.7 PTZ control command of the SDK PDF document contains a table of all the PTZ control commands. Almost all of the commands work except for the "Position" and "PositionABS". Neither of those commands actually make the IP4M-1051B camera move (sometimes the zoom will work). Any suggestions?

Note: In case you're curious about the code, here it is:

(e.g., IPAddress = 192.168.1.108, Action = start, Channel = 1, Code = Position, Arg1 = 20, Arg2 = 30, Arg3 = 5)

Code: Select all

Dim CommandString As String = "http://" & IPAddress & "/cgi-bin/ptz.cgi?action=" & Action & "&channel=" & Channel & "&code=" & Code & "&arg1=" & Arg1 & "&arg2=" & Arg2 & "&arg3=" & Arg3
Dim client As HttpClient
Dim handler As New WebRequestHandler
Dim result As New HttpResponseMessage

handler.Credentials = New NetworkCredential(Username, Password)
client = New HttpClient(handler)
client.BaseAddress = New Uri(CommandString)
client.Timeout = TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(-1)
result = Await client.GetAsync(CommandString, HttpCompletionOption.ResponseHeadersRead)
result.EnsureSuccessStatusCode()
It works for most of the other commands but fails for "Position" and "PositionABS". Any ideas how to get it to work for those two commands?

You probably need a higher function PTZ camera like an IP2M-858 that even has that function in the Web UI.

Thanks, the model that I have has a Web UI, but I don't need a Web UI. I need the purchased camera to work correctly, as documented, via the documented code in the SDK so our users can use it via our desktop app. Is there an ETA on fixing the functionality?

I am going to guess as Jack7 has mentioned that you will need a PTZ a True PTZ camera that has the OPTION built into the camera..

a 1051b is a camera that features a Pan and Tilt with limited Digital Zoom however isn't a true PTZ camera as one would think..

You would need a different Camera for that feature to work

LIke a 1053, 853, 858, or other true PTZ camera an 866 might have the option but not sure really. Also an 848 if you could find one but others like the 721, 841, 941 or 1051 line of camera is not going to have that feature or the V3 of said cameras.. There is no ETA to fix as that is an option that isn't in the Cameras software to start..
Be Safe.

I see, understood now. Then I would have to ask why isn't this mentioned in the SDK that those feature are only available in certain models (I would not have purchased a camera that can't move to a set position)?

I have the IP4 1051 B camera, and I use the presets, but I do wish - or so far the HTTP commands to send the camera have been working. Still trying to determine if it is possible or that my somehow my syntax is different than that found online.
