Re: POE power to Doorbell
Hello and Welcome to the Forum... The Doorbell Camera as it was released was designed to work with peoples Doorbell system that they have in place working on Voltage of either 16vac and 30va to 24vac and 45va... Please note the 2 last numbers 30va and 45va are Volt Amps and that translates to a power supply rated at 1.875amps... The Voltage for Doorbells are AC Volts and as such so should the power giving to the Doorbell camera...
IF you don't have a normal doorbell or have a Wireless doorbell right now. Then wires would need to run form your doorbell location to the inside of your home. IF you are not going to use a Chime on the inside of your home you can get a Plug in Transformer type of Power supply, Connect your Chime Box that came with the Doorbell camera to the 2 pegs on that transformer and feed wires to the power supply for the camera and also add it to the 2 pegs on the power supply. Plug in and wait for a minute while the doorbell charges..
If your going to use a Chime in the house, Then the Chime box that came with camera connects between the Trans and the F Screws on the Chime. Just make sure your Doorbell switch wiring is large enough for the amount of feet your running from the power supply to the door way... Normal cat 5 or 6 wiring isn't good enough.. It should be no less then 18ga to be safe...
