NAS/FTP

Post by PonyBoy »

How in the world do I setup NAS or FTP?

I've tried relentlessly. From FTP, all i get on the test is "FTP test failure, User read only right" But the user has full access to the FTP share. Directories get created, but during motion detection, only the folders are created. No JPGs or videos are written to the folders.

With NAS, I have no idea. I create a folder structure, I use the admin login, but no folders are created on motion detection at all. What is the syntax for the NAS folder structure?

Hello PonyBoy,

In the address space for FTP, if you have a domain name, please change it to the ip address. Also with FTP set up, the server has to support passive FTP for the camera to be able to record.

The NAS option has only had limited success and the NAS should support NFS.

Please also note that the latest firmwares, if you're using the IP2M-841 camera, have issues with FTP not keeping files older than 1 day. Amcrest has yet to fix this.

Ponyboy, I saw this before when setting up a friend's camera for him to do FTP. The root cause was Windows Firewall. It was allowing the connection to create the folders but denying the file transfer part of the connection. He is running Windows 10. We disabled the firewall, but it was still happening. Then I realised that Windows 10 has like 3 different firewall profiles and they ALL had to be disabled. Once that was done it started working perfectly. He later went in and configured the firewall to allow the connections properly then turned it back on again. Hope this helps.
