Mix wireless IP camera with wired cameras

Post by lnewcomer »

We are looking into a security camera package to install at a church property and have a few questions regarding some of your security camera packages and their ability to integrate with your IP cameras.

The property has two buildings we are interested in covering with security cameras at this time. The main building has a high-speed internet connection and a WiFi router. The secondary building has no internet connection, but is on the edge of the range of the WiFi signal (there is about 120 ft of distance between the two buildings).

We are interested in the following setup and would like to know if it will work as we expected.

· Amcrest 720P 4CH Tribrid (IP/HDCVI) Video Security System - https://amcrest.com/amcrest-tribrid-amd ... white.html (https://amcrest.com/amcrest-tribrid-amd ... white.html)

· Amcrest HDSeries Outdoor 720P WiFi Wireless IP Security Bullet Camera - https://amcrest.com/amcrest-720p-bullt- ... -722s.html (https://amcrest.com/amcrest-720p-bullt- ... -722s.html)

Our plan would be to install the wired camera system in the main building and add the wireless IP camera at the secondary building. We will assume that the IP camera at the secondary building would be within the range of the WiFi signal from the main building.

1. Would we be able to integrate the wireless IP camera with the 4 channel DVR system?

2. If the answer to #1 is yes, would the wireless IP camera be allocated to one of the 4 channels, so that we would only be able to use 3 of the wired cameras in the main building? In other words, is 4 the maximum number of cameras that can be run using the DVR in this package?

3. Would we need to purchase a package with 8 channels if we wanted to add more wireless IP cameras at a later date?

4. What is the difference between a DVR and a NVR?

5. Is it correct that the wireless IP cameras are only compatible with the DVR identified as Tribrid systems (IP/HDCVI)?

6. Is it correct that the wired cameras only required one cable to be run that carries both video and power?

7. In the setup as described above, would an individual be able to monitor all cameras on the system, the wired cameras and wireless IP camera, using an iPhone/Android device while connected to the WiFi network in the main building?

Always go wired when possible.

For the cameras that are located at another building, use a wireless router set in bridge mode. YOu will get a better connection rate, and longer distance with 9 or 12 dbi antennas on the back of the routers.

From the bridge, wire the remaning camera into it.

I can provide a mini picture if you want.
