One of my cameras captures my driveway and the walk up to my house, but the motion recording also triggers based on cars going by in the street. Obviously, this causes a lot of extra recording.
If I set the trigger area I don't get alerts for these recordings, but the recordings still show up. Other than moving the camera, is there anything else I can do? If I set a mask for that area it will not record there, but will it still see the motion? Is it possible to ignore the motions in an area but still record the full frame if there is motion in an active area?

Re: Mask and Motion Area
Hello lbutlr ,
You can set a different motion detection zone for the area you want to exclude. In this region, keep the sensitivity at the lowest, and the threshold at highest.

Re: Mask and Motion Area
How do I set a different motion detection zone? Is that in the manual, because I've looked through all 24 pages and if it's there I've missed it.

Re: Mask and Motion Area
I thought I already asked, but how can you set sensitivity per zone? The only setting I see is the ability to set sensitivity based on time, and don't see a threshold setting.
(RTFM replies welcome, preferably with a note on which FM to R and maybe a hint as to where since I've looked at the 25 pages pretty often already).

Re: Mask and Motion Area
You never state what camera but I'll take a stab. Under Event, Video Detect, select Area. Here you can set the Regions, Sensitivity, and Threshold.
Re: Mask and Motion Area
I have the QCAM IP 3M952E.
I see no such settings in SmartClient. Under "Alarm" I have "Motion" where I can choose "Area" and my only options there are channel, enable, select all, clear all, copy to, and save. I can select squares on the image for the Area I want.
Under the Alarm>Motion>Sensitivity I have a slider that I can set for different times from 1 to 100. So far, I see no difference between 10 (default) and 1; either way I get about 150 'motion' events a day 148 of which are undetectable to the human eye.
I am no exaggerating, btw. So far today (it is not quite 9pm) there have been 116 motion alerts. One was the mailman. One was my wife getting home. There was no alert for her leaving this morning.
