Manage Users IP8M-T2499
Manage Users IP8M-T2499
IP8M-T2499EW User Manual "5.4.5.2. Manage Users" describes the settings fields, but doesnt give many clues as to how to use them. I want to enable a guest viewer without giving admin rights. Better instructions somewhere?
Re: Manage Users IP8M-T2499
I am going to guess that it is just like the rest of the cameras and systems offered....
So what you do is click on the add new and make a new user then pick the user profile.
You will want to go to the Profile and make changes to what you want the user account and the ability behind it... SO maybe you don't want them PTZ your cameras because some don't have the ability to return to a home spot so it might not be smart to let them have that access so you un check it... So this is some screen shots of my NVR user right now I have them all un checked and have all the live view checked as what user can do right now NOT MUCH lol...
So on the Live view and Play back maybe you don't want them to have access to your Backyard because it has your POOL So you can take out say camera 7 and 8 or if you had a 16ch you can take out 14 15 and 16 from the ability of them watching them cameras. Also maybe you don't want the users to have any Playback so you can take that all away... just CLick all and they are un checked...
However you did list a Camera so the 3rd is from that listing and it is really the same there is what ability they have if you want them to be able to Playback or just live view. If it is a PTZ camera you can choose if they have the ability to use it or not....
So for the Camera you can setup the Group user as a general role. however lets say you want to have your Son have more control over the camera. You could give them Admin role and even with that you can take away rights you don't want them to have. So you remove the rights and save. However your brother you want them to have access to more of the camera control but only under User, Right now your General User is only for Live View and Play back but you want them to have access to your PTZ and logs so you check them and he will have access to that over the normal user. The next user you add again only has the Live View and Play Back until you give them more if you wanted or you maybe only want them to have Live view so you uncheck Playback an save...
Just remember the roles as they are now is how they setup by default everytime you set them up... So you can give or take now in 1 setup as a user because as you are setting up 10 user accounts it is easier to just make the role and when you setup the 10 they have that default maybe 11 and 12 will have extra abilities.. You can always go back and make adjustments maybe you have a Manager but don't want them to have all Admin rights as they grown into them you can add them without having to make a new account...

Re: Manage Users IP8M-T2499
So after I set up a User and assign privileges, how are they distinguished from an Administrator when they log into the camera from a browser?
Im guessing the URL would be formed something like "192.168.1.1:8000/user" but the documentation is a bit weak.

Re: Manage Users IP8M-T2499
After you make the account in the Camera or the DVR/NVR... The person will then use the log in like you do however in the area where you put in admin the new user would put in there name in the user area then under that they would put in the password you made for the account...
Just remember that once you setup an account you can go into the account and add personal levels for that user as well so say you have someone that you want to be able to access the PTZ of your camera however most others you don't want them to have access
So in the General User area you would set up the account names
Rhonda === User account, under General Live View
Ronald ==== User account, under General Live View but adding in PTZ
Ricky ===== User account, under General Live View Also adding Playback and PTZ
Robert +++++ Admin account has all access as the admin main account..
So as in that list there the 3 top were added into the General User account setting.. Then went to each user and edit the account and added in to the person other areas they have access to. Then the last has Admin and given all access but later on made some config changes i the camera that made them not work to your liking so you edit them and remove that access, Also remove the ability to make or delete and change account names as that will be your task...
Looking at your WebUI log in it looks like your trying to log into your Routers DMZ on a forwarded port? however if your camera is on the same range as your computer and you didn't change access to port numbers and let say the camera is on 192.168.1.149 IP.. Then the User would type in that IP address then when the log in box comes up they would put in their user name and password... However in the event you changed the port then it would be the 192.168.1.149:8000 like in your post then again when box comes up to log in they would put in the acount you made for them and the password
So this is what it would look like to have my Son Ronald Log in to my NVR

Re: Manage Users IP8M-T2499
So I also thought I would show what it would look like with Ronald signed in and if he tried to access a camera that isn't on his list of viewing there are more then just the one but only added 1 and then added one he don't have access too to show

Re: Manage Users IP8M-T2499
OK great, that works. I had a older system that did it...different, but this makes more sense.Revo2Maxx wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 10:55 pm After you make the account in the Camera or the DVR/NVR... Is there a way I can limit a guest account to a substream, or at least have it default to a lower resolution initially?
That URL I posted was just an illustration and not what Im using btw
Re: Manage Users IP8M-T2499
Now I see a user with only live viewing privileges can still change the password or delete the profile
