Making setup a Breeze

Post by Revo2Maxx »

Hello all.

So I thought I would share some info. While some may or may not already know that you can Export and import your config in your camera... So I make it a Point to Update my Config files now in 2 ways... One I make one of Each camera with its name. So like Blk15-841 is from 2015, My newest one is NewFW-841 and so on.. So I will put the name and it gives the extension... anyway.. I then have Cameras with same FW so I make one from the one that has already been Programmed with SMTP and all the nice things that you have to remember call that one Share..

So it was so much easier to just import the share and BAM all the data in the camera and only took seconds...

So here is some things to think about if you are going to share your Config file...
Camera has to be same make and model #, on the same Firmware.
When your Camera imports you will want to change your Event Setup meaning the Grid layout..
You will want to change the name of the camera to the name it should be because it will import the name if was made by.
Most important for me... SMTP worked without trying to remember what I changed the Password to last time lol...

Good news is that the Static Setup of the cameras IP meaning the one you are importing to didn't change to the one imported form that would have been a whole different mess lol.... However I know how to fix if the IP ever did get to be the same no issue there...

Be safe and Have Fun...
Be Safe.

I remember doing a config backup on all the cameras when I initially setup the system.
I've changed many settings since then.
I went to <Setup>, <System>, <Import/Export>, <Export> and neither the import or export buttons work.
It worked for the NVR but not the cameras.
Where do we export configs now?

Strange. I used it in the older FW 841 doing 1 from the other without an issue.. So I thought maybe a NEW FW issue. I was sure I have done that one too.. I have lol. I have like 5 now seeing it is only one that I have new FW for.. However I do see that it didn't give me ability to change name .. The name for the new fw on 841 came out as configFileExport.backup letter for letter lol... Saved it to the Download folder...
Be Safe.
