This 2P-842 camera is literally 30’ from my router, yet it shows a weak signal. The camera is mounted below my deck which is what I thought the problem was. I bought an external antenna and moved the antenna above the deck. I tried that antenna at 3’ and 7’ heights, the signal is still weak. The external antenna can physically see the router line of site with very little obstructions.
My next thought is voltage drop. I had to extend the power lead from the OEM plug in power supply. I added probably 15’. Today I cut out the connector to the extension cable and tomorrow I’m going to cut out about an extra 9’ of power cable.
Do you think that the power cable length could have anything to do with the weak signal? The power supply is 2A, that’s a lot to ask of that thin power wire. Once I take this 9’ out, I’ll have no spare length.
