I am on my second back to back RMA cameras.
Model - IP2M-841W
Issue - When inserting an SD card into the camera and powering on you there is a audible humming sound and the camera will not work. If the camera is on and working if you insert a SD card it will still start humming and stop working. I ran a constant ping to the camera when I did this and I immediately lost my connection. When I remove the card the unit will reboot.
Which brings me to my second concern. When the camera is rebooted and does it process, the camera only turns left 180 degrees. You can hear the motor try to turn more but it doesn't. The camera does not go through a sentry mode going left to right, up and down. I might be comparing these to my Foscams that do that when rebooted. Should my Amcrest cameras do that as well?
Thanks
Mike
Loud humming when inserting SD card - unit stops working
Re: Loud humming when inserting SD card - unit stops working
Hello mike929,
This issue seems strange. Are you inserting the card with the metal pins facing upwards? The card also should properly slot in the space.
The Ip2m 841w camera during reboot moves 180 degrees left and right and also tilts up a little. If your camera is not doing that it could be a hardware issue.

Re: Loud humming when inserting SD card - unit stops working
The card only goes in one way. Whether the camera is off work on it we'll come and be non-functional. If the camera is on and I insert the card it immediately starts humming and ceases to work.
Upon booting up the camera only turns left the motor keeps running when it is stopped and then it returns to the home position straight ahead. It never goes up or down or to the right.

Hello mike929,
It looks very strange. I would suggest you replace the camera under warranty.

At the same time I made this post I emailed Amcrest and to this date have not heard anything back.
