Login Timed Out when not on home wifi, Android

Post by RonSMeyer »

Recently, Amcrest View Pro will only connect if the phone is connected to my home wifi. If I try to connect through the cell network OR if I am on another wifi I get "Login timed out". This used to work. But over the past few weeks several things have happened:

1. A new Amcrest View Pro was pushed.
2. The phone (Pixel) updated to Android 8.0 (Oreo).
3. I re-set up my one camera and added a second camera, both IP3M-941.

I'm not sure what got messed up. It only works on the local wifi. I can't get in from the outside.
Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this?

Has anyone come up for a solution to this for you? I am a recent camera owner and having the same issue. Emailed back and forth with tech support several times and the only solution I was offered was to call in Monday-Friday between 10AM and 5PM CST!!!! Not exactly convenient if you work an 8-5 job.

I'm having same issue. I had iphone 5 which worked and then I got iphone 7 and now it's not working. Also have an ATT Uverse new router/modem put in less than 2 months ago. I have 2 cameras ip2m-841. When purchased, Amcrest sales said they'll provide tech support for lifetime. I'm really having difficult time getting in touch with local US tech support. I have emailed but get very little response - one person suggested I get a better wifi system and next time
same person sent me a link to all the Amcrest support videos - none of which will help with my problem. I have contacted phone support - but I worry when they need to put me on hold to ask the supervisor what the next step will be. One of those techs left my computer in a mess when they remoted in. When you go to the Amcrest website - they have plenty of sales people help you make a purchase - that chat popup comes up right away. They need to
dedicate more staff to supporting their products. I keep getting emails to review their product but have not responded yet. I did want them to get a chance to provide support. It's been a few weeks now and no help.
Works great on home wifi but as soon as I'm on LTE - failed to connect or times out.
