I recently installed a 4CH 720p Tribrid DVR.
Setup went very smooth, and I was able to access my system from my phone without any trouble. I just plugged the system into my router and left the default settings. I scanned the QR code on the DVR using my phone, and everything "just worked".
After having the system for a few days, I got a call from my internet provider. They tell me that they are detecting unusual activity from my router. They said my router is trying to access the network of a local business in town and asked me to make it stop. I have no idea what they are talking about or how this could happen, so I am wondering if somehow the DVR is causing this when it tries to send my video up to "the cloud" so I can access it on my phone.
So has anyone ever heard of something like this. Is this possible, and if so, how can I prevent it?
Thanks
Is it possible for a DVR to try to connect to another network?
Re: Is it possible for a DVR to try to connect to another network?
Hello MNVike84,
The DVR will connect to the P2P server and the time server etc but not any other network. If you want to stop this you should disable the P2P under network settings but then the remote access will not work. You can set up port forwarding and then connect via IP/DDNS after this.
