IPM-7238 Won't connect with long ethernet cable
IP Config tool sees the camera with a 10' cat5 cable. When hooked to 75' cable the light goes solid green but doesn't show on IP Config tool. The cable tests good, has 2 ohm resistance on each lead and does not run along any AC lines. Can you offer any assistance? Thanks.

Re: IPM-7238 Won't connect with long ethernet cable
I had the RJ45 plugs wired wrong. Both ends were wired the same but wrong. So I guess there was self interference because the data was using the wrong twisted pairs.... The cable worked fine for internet but not the cam.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum...
Yes sadly some times cable or connections at ones install site might be wrong and things just won't work.. Then people plug in a Laptop and get network connection and think all is good yet sadly computer network seems to adjust to things to lower speeds where a Camera wants things right.. So I take it now they are wired right and things working now? Don't forget there is or could be issues with power down long distance so I always try and make sure I either have power close to camera or take steps to ensure power will work at the site of camera.. Like most of my cameras are Dual Voltage as 24vac works better for me over longer distance.. Also don't forget if you have the Pro Series Power Supply unit even though you can adjust the power to go over longer distance for the voltage drop closer cameras can suffer because they could be over powered.. I learned that the Hard way lol
