IPM-722S WiFi camera dropping connection issue

Post by htsea »

I've recently purchased two IPM-722S wifi cameras and have been having issue with dropping connection. Almost everyday (2 days at the most) one or both cameras would "disappear" from the IP Config tool, and the only way for them to become available again is to unplug and reconnect the power supply to the cameras, which is a pain for me as I have them installed at the attic of our backyard shed so it's quite a trip to get there to reset the cameras.

I have tried turning on the "Auto Reboot" option under System -> Auto Maintain hoping that it can reboot itself every night to refresh the connection, however the problem is that once the unit reboots, that "Auto Reboot" checkbox would get cleared, i.e. it doesn't get saved, so it will not reboot for the next time.

How should I proceed with this issue? I have a very reliable wifi connection so it's not the wifi for sure.

Thanks for your help.

You might want to assign static IP addresses to the cameras. Also check the Internet modem connection log and the WiFi router DHCP and IP lease assignments etc. On the Internet modem..... Your Internet connection might be causing the Internet modem to reset and reacquire signals. The Internet modem and connection log will tell you how long the connection has been "up" and some other things about the cable signals. On the WiFi router..... most routers are setup to renew the IP lease every 24 hours. When that happens IP addresses can get reassigned. You could try lengthening the lease time or see if when the lease renews if that coincides with when the cameras disappear from the IP config tool.

These are a few suggestions to get you started :)
