IP8M-T2499E dims every 2 sec.

Post by patric »

The picture abruptly dims at about 0.6 Hz or slightly more than 2 seconds, recovers then dims again. Sometimes its barely noticeable. Its more noticeable at night under IR illumination but I have noticed it on occasion in daytime as well.
It can be seen when accessing the camera on a browser as well as on the HDMI output of an nv4108e-hs NVR.
I have observed it to varying degrees on more than one camera of the same make. I thought it might be a failing IR LED but that wouldnt explain the phenomenon in daytime. It almost looks like an iris or gain issue. Insights?

I would need to see a clip of it.. Night time here so I guess now would be a good time even if using Amcrest Pro App on your phone to do a local record and upload to youtube or somewhere that you can upload video file could set to private and only people with a link to it would be able to see it if you have a following and don't want to make it public...

Other then that my only other guess would be failing power supply... This don't have to be that the supply is failing all together but that the Noise Suppression is failing... One of my Amcrest CVI cameras was in a spot that I didn't have power from my main supply so I used one that I have for backup and it would kind of flash if you will.. Not sure how to explain it.. But the power would surge I guess so at night with IR it would keep a good picture but the IR would get brighter then say like 90% then higher... Swapped out the Supply and put in a new CAP and tested it and the surge issue was gone... Some Power supplies don't have suppression caps and in that case a Iron Ferrite bead could be all your supply cable might need? I have some older Samsung Cameras that came with them on the Power line in and the Video line in... Did some testing in that camera and removed the cables adding new with out the core wrap and I could see some power surges in the videos...

While this is only guess without seeing what the issue is this is all I could think of at this time... Could also be I guess a Bad Connection leaking into the Video in or maybe the camera shares the Power Ground with video ground and I have seen a lot of camera with this
Be Safe.

Try increasing your frame rate for that camera. If it dims or has a pulsing like attitude when watching, try that and see if it helps.
