IP8M-2796EW POE motion error

I’ve had the IP8M-2796EW POE camera for a year using the smart motion detection. Recently I started receiving alarms for motion in the area outside of the set detection area. I don’t recall changing anything. Any ideas?

SMD has no Grid settings and nothing outside of the normal Motion grid. Yet if you setup a Small box for Grid in a busy scene and only wanted to detect vehicle or people when it hits that box it don't work that way.. So if in a busy area with large area of view and don't want to detect people or vehicles outside of 1/2 or 1/4 of that view it won't work well. Would need a different camera lens that moves the scene into area of Interest.

Thank you for the reply. Surprising. Will using IVS work better than SMD for being notified of intrusions onto my driveway? Is Dahua firmware available for this camera? If so, Will using this firmware improve the smart motion detection?

No it would improve if Dahua FW was found, however keep in mind most cases it would be a 1 way upgrade and if under warranty that would be voided..

Next IVS yes if camera offers true AI *this means with human and vehicle detection* then yes IVS is best way to go for many reasons.
