IP8M-2496EB event intermittently missing snapshot from smtp gmail

Post by consorts »

Software Version 2.460.1.0.R, Build Date: 2018-06-25
WEB Version 3.2.1.474688
ONVIF Version 16.12(V2.4.0.485616)

1gig switch lan, 100mbps isp, low traffic
ip cam gui not in live playback use
64gbu3 microsd only, no cloud nas ftp

camera/video/snapshot/quality is set to;
general 2688*1520 quality=1 interval=1s
event/video.detection/motion.detect/ is set to;
enable schedule(24/7) a.dither=5 d.area(all)
✓record r.delay=10 ✓send.email ✓snapshot=1
network/smtp/subject is set to;
✓attachment interval=1

when i get an attached .jpg snapshot it averages 200K in size
yet half the time they don't show up.
when i check the corresponding video clip it looks normal.
it's not a virus/malware blocking or going to spam folder
it's a Alarm Event: Motion Detect, so not some other email notice,
i'm using gmail's own web gui - so what seems to be the problem?

thanks, i understand all that, just not amcrest idiocracies or bugs.

i'm using lowest quality 1 snapshots, so that link poster who noticed
problems at higher quality numbers is not relevant to my observation.

anyway, i looked at my event perfect hikvision and noticed i use interval=3
so i'll set this amcrest from 1 to 3s for both "interval"s and see if that helps.

my guess is whenever the camera takes fewer frames per second
like when there's a lot of movement or lighting changes, maybe
the "interval" it looks to grab the snapshot may have no frame
so then it sends nothing attached, so by increasing the interval,
you may increase the chance that a the frame buffer will have
some snapshot to attach to that specific outgoing smtp email.

update: yup, interval 3 fixed it - amcrest should make it the default;
